Everyone...just as an FYI...Once you get over about 100mph your speedometer becomes increasingly less accurate. Between 145 and 165 it is roughly 20% inaccurate. Meaning if your speedo shows 160...chances are you are only doing 144 miles per hour. This would put you very close to the 148 that is advertised. Not saying if you have a modded car you can't do over this...but I think 148 could very well be accurate for a stock car. Plus altitude and stuff of the test car comes into play as well. Were they at 1500ft or 100ft?

I got my car up to 152than i let off .So i really was not going that fast.It sure as hell felt like it! So is that with every car or what? Because i went like 160 in my vr4 and some one was on the side of me taping me and they had a viper.So the viper was wrong too?

 

They were at 5000 ft haha ...wouldn't suprise me...148mph sounds a bit low...for a bath tub with a 300 horse motor haha

Correct Valo...it is not just "srt-4's" speedo's I promise...it is universal across the board. For example: My brother got nailed in his 96 Z28. He had the speedo maxed out (which is 155) and the cop said he was doing 131. It is a universal equation for the most part. That is why when the guys driving hayabusa motorcycles start yelling about how they hit 220mph...they probably never came close to getting over 190. I remember the article when they tested that bike...they had the speedo buried (220mph) and they had the wind at their backs and they still couldnt get over 194.

Hey if any of you are interested...I have footage of a 20-95mph pull in my car when it was stock minus a cat back? It needed injectors at the time hence the check engine light. let me know Not that some of you would even care to see it..just thought I would throw it out there

 

You cannot trust the radar/laser guns as I have watched one of the mobile units set up reading absolutely nothing doing 60+ MPH, there wasn't so much as a bird or squirrel in sight let alone a car. Another said unit showed my parents Chevette doing around 50-60 MPH from one street to another and they were only 75 ft. apart, not to mention he drives slower than peanut butter pours. If a vehicles speedometer is inaccurate it will get worse as you increase speed, but if it shows true at 60 MPH, then it will also be true or maybe 1-2 MPH off at twice that speed, so your statement is incorrect.

 

if you think my statement is false...then you believe it to be false. But if you are going off of a radar trailer that is calibrated once a year then you may be suprised. I have state troopers for friends who will disagree with you on the accuracy of their guns as they are required by law to have them calibrated accurately up to 188mph every week.

I'm not trying to be smart I promise...but I did not make the statement about speedometers "guessingly". I know it is a fact. As anyone who races professionally for a living, get a buddy who is a cop to tag you, or simply look at your speedo the next time you are at the drag strip and see if it matches your trap speed...you will see I am alot more accurate than you think.
