how did GSR beat SRT-4?
wow i guess 93 makes a big differance i didnt think the ecu where mapped for 93 but for 91. all we have is 91 at the pumps and some 76 staions sell 100 but there rare we have to buy race gas from shops and what not. like $38 for 5 gallons. i guess its not to bad considering 91 is $3 a gallon here!
Just because you can't do it doesn't mean it isn't possible. I'm good at basketball, but I can't make 20 3's in a row. I myself have ran once down the track, and ran mid 14's. It was my first time I have ever touched a drag strip and I got a 14.69 or something of that nature I can't remember the exact number. Another SRT-4 was there, he ran a 13.6ish low and 14.2ish (ish means it was a 14.20-14.29 as I can't remember runs from a year ago) as his highest out of some 5 runs. Stock with 3,200 miles on it.
Although he said he has been on the track his entire life, so I didn't feel too bad after my run, but I gotta improve on my launches and get my WOT shifting down. Do you WOT? If not thats why your not getting below 14.1. I didn't, and he comment that take a good deal off your quartermile time, and I've been told that by quite a few people. I just spin way too much from 2-3rd WOT. But I have like 12k miles on my tires now, so it's time for a new set.
As for gas. I get knock with 91 from the stations that I can find it, so I stick with 93.
As for times theres someone on this forum with stage 0 running 12's. Best time-12.938 @ 108.94 best trap of 109.43 270whp 304 wtq. Bruins013. I believe I also seen his car in a mag?
Last year there was a 10 sec SRT-4 in Tn. But it was totally built up, even has some frame work done. I only got to see pics though. Stupid work.

of course i wot shift 2-3 and 3-4 my reaction times are always good even tho that doesnt really affect your 1/4 time. i guess its just the gas cuz everyone out here runs pretty much the same times. that guy that ran a 12.9 has fuel management tho and the 10 sec srt-4 has like a t4 set up i belive. it was 500whp, the silver one right? well the track we run at the altiude and humidity is always jacked so im pretty sure i could get better if i was at a differant track it seems like all the turbo cars run slow here tho. so maybe my car is faster out where you guys are i dun know!
I always heard Temp and altitude play roles, although I wouldn't know personally. But I can say my car does seem a bit stronger in cold weather than it did this summer.. But I was gentle during the summer due to the break in period, so I guess I'll find out this year. I'm hoping to hit a track up april 9th and get some better times than last year.
I have a question. How are you controlling tire spin, especially wot shifting 2-3? Are you letting off the gas slightly till they grab? On my stock tires I usually spin till and part way through 3rd before I got solid traction. What trick am I missing?
This SRT-4 was red actually. As for the whp and such I am not sure. A guy I went to college with took pics of it off and on the track because it was the first SRT-4 he had seen. It was right around Nopi nationals from what I remember.

Temp plays a big role...try running in the cooler less humid air and then in the hot humid summer air, you'll see a difference I'm sure. I've run in both....and I consistently run like **** in the hot humid air....as were all my friends, and some of them are boosted. Also weight is a big deal. I've had a buddy ride along a few times to watch something for me....and I'm always about 2 tenths slower when he rides along...since he's about 220lbs. Have any of you SRT guys taken your seats out? Sometimes I take my back seat and front seat out....it drops a good chunk of weight and its something easy for me to do.
Hey neonster, it sounds like there are, indeed a number of stock srt's running in the 13's. Can you acknowledge that this is possible, now? Do you need more people to chime in with actual timeslips to prove their cases(Oh yeah this already exists in great mass if you look it up)? Any statements you want to retract?
Oh and by the way, I just realized that you said 1/4 mile times mean nothing? What about the fact that the srt-4 is stronger from a roll(40 is even getting close to a sweet spot for the srt-4) than in the 1/4 mile? Did you realize that? Maybe the srt-4 didn't downshift into 2nd at 40. Here is more data for you.:
The srt-4 does 0-100 in 13.9sec -per road and track july 2003 road test summary pgs 114-115-
Motor trend tested the SRT-4 0-100 in 13.5 sec
July road and track lists the followin times- Honda S2000 0-100 in 14.2-porsche Boxter-S 0-100 in 14.4sec Lexus IS300-(sorry Kevin) 0-100 in 18.9sec-The 350z 0-100 in 14.5sec- and of these cars the srt-4 is the only one to break 100mph in the Quarter for all the mags that tested it-
Another magazine:
Zero to 60 mph: 5.3 sec
Zero to 100 mph: .13.4 sec
Zero to 130 mph: .24.8 sec
Street start, 5-60 mph: 5.7 sec
Standing 1/4-mile: 13.9 sec @ 103 mph
Top speed (drag limited): 153 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 169 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.86 g
EPA fuel economy, city driving: 22 mpg
C/D-observed fuel economy: 17 mpg
Finally, realize that if you want to argue that it was from 40 roll, 0-40 for the srt-4 is 3.3 seconds(average from 3 different tests), and 0-100 is 13.7(also averaged). The GSR runs 0-40 in 4.1 seconds(also averaged) and 0-100 in 19.4 seconds. NOW, the math:
Lets get elementary-----13.7-3.3=10.4; 19.4-4.1=15.3 ; 15.3-10.4=4.9
According to simple math, stock vs. stock, an srt-4 runs from 40-100 4.9 seconds faster than the GSR. In 4.9 seconds at 100 mph, you will be way behind an srt-4 in a GSR. I absolutely guarantee that a intake, exhaust, and header, cannot overcome that difference in a 40-100 battle.
I bet the outcome would've been closer to what you describe, in most instances, if he were driving against you in your old 2001 neon, not an srt-4.
BTW - why do you only post on here about street racing - do you race on the street regularly, or did you just watch too many bad racing movies?

i murdered a 01 type -r on a 30mph roll when i was stock. at the middle of third i was nearly 4 cars ahead of him. even s2000 cant compare to a srt-4 on a roll. we can hang with sti with slight mods off a roll. that must have been some fat people in that srt-4. as far as wot shift at the track i launch at like 2100 and feather it till i grab then in second in wot and feather it if need be. i dont burn the tires beacause those kdw sucks *** when they get hot. i go around the water pit also. theres no problem 3-4 shift tho. i guess the altidue of the track and humididy mixed with the 91 octane just makes for slowe cars!
i'm gone for one day and all hell breaks loose why are we still having this conversation we all know it was an sxt the bs limit has been meet so can we all just get on with our lives. that was a good joke though.[sm=bicker.gif][sm=exactly.gif][sm=forgetit.gif][sm=funnypostabove.gif]

Heh. The guy used my name in his bitch/[sm=icon_blah.gif]rant session, So I had to respond.
BTW on the way to work today I beat a Pagani Zonda c12s. I shouldn't have, but I beat him. Maybe it was because he had 3 passengers stuffed in the car with him. [sm=smiley36.gif][sm=closed.gif]
First of all i never said the GSR was faster than srt-4's. I said we raced and beat this one and asked how this could have happened. So quit feeding me all the motor trend magazine reports, i know a srt-4 is a lot faster. As for the low 13's in stock srt-4 even mid 13's, please post a pic of your time slip and your car at the drag strip so you can prove it was there.
As for you posthondaremoval, obviously we dont get along, i tried to be nice and not reply to the post where you bolded alot of my stuff cause i thought i got a little out of hand in my first post, but i just read your last two and obviosly you want to argue. So here is what i think. You actually drive an sxt and think its an srt-4 you call it that to everyone on here its prolly automatic and you have never seen a drag strip. If you did take to a drag strip you prolly couldnt break 14.3 in it(considering it is an srt-4). POST YOUR TIME SLIP.
Anyone who lives near COLUMBIA SC with a srt-4 let me know cause i want to see you beat an s2000, 350z, or definetely a Zonda if i could find one. Im seriously asking cause i really would like to see if this is true.
