Here I be. I scanned the postings and have an idea of where everyone is coming from, so here goes.

Things I've noticed about civilian cops (does not apply to military "security forces")

1. Attitude is EVERYTHING. A person who screams in my face, calls me names, makes threats, is going to get me to show up in court, guaranteed. And I'll remind the judge of your attitude as well.

2. I've never had a "quota" put on me for tickets, but I can tell you an officer who writes a few tickets is going to get a lower evaluation report than an officer who writes a lot of them. They consider it "proof" he/she is doing their job.

3. If there are special "circumstances" as to why you were driving like you were, tell the officer. You might be surprised what we can relate to.

4. Street racing is a "hot button" for almost any cop due to the large number of accidents and deaths. Race on the strip. Going 5 or 6 mph over the posted limit in dry weather and light traffic isn't going to attract any attention in my jurisdiction. (We often do the same thing)

5. Just after a major accident in which children were seriously injured and/or killed is not a time to show off your driving skills. Cops react to bad news like anyone else and tend to "crack down" after something like that. We have kids too.

6. Don't take a traffic citation personally. The world is not out to get you. You were unlucky enough to get caught violating an ordinance/law that was enacted by lawmakers that you or your parents possibly voted for. Don't agree with the law? Work to get it changed. That's how it got there in the first place.

7. 99.9% of the cops out there would much prefer catching a felon than writing a ticket. Drive like a sane person and you'll give us the chance to do so.

when i was pulled over the last 2 times..once was the local boob who i mentioned before...i was in gridlock traffic...it wasnt like i was speeding or racing or anything else...i had my windows down, and it was a nice summer day...i was on my way to a job interview in a very expensive suit..i wasnt street racing or speeding, hell, i wasnt even really moving, and i wasnt dressed in my newest sideways Kangol hat with my fresh karl kani jeans and fubu racing shirt..or whatever the ricers are wearing nowadays...i had not been in prior trouble in that area...nothing..he pulled me over, and he was wrong, and i wasnt going to let him forget it...im sure dusty will agree he had made an *** of himself pulling me over because "he could hear my stereo a mile away"...when my radio wasnt even working..it was when i showed him that it didnt work, and he still gave me a hard time, that i started giving him attitude....

the other time i was pulled over...i was turning from a side street onto a 5 lane road...i didnt see the cop at the light, and when my light turned green..i jumped on it..the tires spun, and as soon as i got straightened out, and really got into it, and he turned his lights on..so i pulled over...he started with "i dont know how fast you were going, but i would say you were going at least a hundred"..i later measured it, it was about a tenth and a half of a mile...which means i would run like, 9s in the quarter...anyway, he was a state cop, and i know better than to be lippy with them...he said to me "you import guys think you can drive klike morons because that stupid furious racing movie..or whatever it is called did well"..i told him that i was sorry..and he told me to have a nice day, and to "stop driving like an a$$hole"....

and for the record, i have never had a ticket that has held up...i have even fought parking tickets...so dont everyone think that because ive had a bunch of tickets im pissed at cops...i just dont like their general attitude and demeanor.

Wow, sounds like you have a bunch of lynch mobs up there for police officers.....too bad.

Down here we try to be a bit more professional, if only for the video camera in the car!!

The first time you do CPR to a person in a vehicle accident or a person having a heart attact, and they survive, you DO get an attitude and demeanor. That's why people do the job....

I understand the small city cops thing. I come from a small community, the cops there are horrible. Well lets put it this way. The cheif sits outside sonic in his cruiser and sells cocaine to all the highschool students. Where did they get this cocaine? Busting the ***** of local drug dealers, and getting someone to drive it from NC to him (which may sound far fetched, but it was my uncle (by marriage) that drove it for them.) However larger law enforcement agencies have recently interviened and now the cheif of police sits rotting in a jail cell, and my uncle now lays in a grave. But some people never get outside of their rural communities, and they can be truly horrible experiences with attempts to seek out justice.

well, i think i may have found a loophole and a way to get around the ticket...the boroughs municipal code says that cops have discretion over what is "loud" or "annoying", but it later goes on to say that provided a car has an exhaust, and is under 90 decibles than it is legal...now i just have to find a place with a decible meter!

and whoever said that a cop woul rather catch a felon than write a ticket, has definitely never been in this town...all they do is give kids in sports cars loud exhaust tickets, while 30 year old men rumble by with their ford trucks with flowmasters...its total profiling, and hopefully if I can get the ticket thrown out, it will come to an end...

Dusty!

Glad to see you back!!!

I agree with Bad Strat, in a few ways, If you'r a Guy in a fast car, YOU are going to get pulled over....PERIOD.

If you are a chick in a fast car, you are getting pulled over so the cop can check you out!!!

However, all cops are not dicks, they are people just like all of us who have a job to do.

After seeing several bad accidents while doing my job, I get just as pissed off at the stupid asses driving like idiots that are going to get someone killed.

And if i could, i would pull them over to.

Bottom line is, don't drive like a dick, and you won't get pulled over by one!!

Another thing to remember. While you may be the best driver in the world, not everyone else on the road is. Basically like they said don't drive like a dick.
