If you notice the round indentation on the underside of your hood just over the air box you will see that the hood scoop duct work extends over to the circular indentation.i.e. Ram Air is possible.

But you want to make sure you get some air flow across the turbo or you will burn it up, thats the whole purpose of the hood scope to blow air on the turbo to cool it off. I have thought about making a ram air induction on my '04 srt but buying a turbo and swapping it out rates low on the to do scale right now.

Default SRT-4 Help

If the SRT-4 is like the previous Mopar turbo cars the airflow over the turbo is a non-issue because they are water cooled. If you have a turbo charged car switch to synthetic motor oil after 5,000 miles to improve performance and to eliminate any chance of coking the oil in the turbo. My Shelby Z had 200,000+ miles on it before the engine needed a rebuild due to a wrist pin. The turbo was fine.

Default SRT-4 Help

Well 71roadrunner i've only owned one other turbo Dodge and that was a 600es convertible that i brought new in 1986. The other was a tsi conquest but it was mitsu not all Mopar. I modified the hood for cai and had turbo problems from then on, but rember this was a turbo1 car, no intercooler. And after some street raceing the other night i lifted the hood showing off my srt's 2.4 and noticed the turbo glowing orange! Yep orange! The headerpipes of my valiant used to do that, thought it was awesome. I was thinking on how to modify the hoodto seal to the top of the stock air cleaner cover, as you can see the dc engineers added it to the design. A bnulge on the underside of the hood on the drivers side fits nicely atop the air cleaner lid(think chevie cavaleer rs style),some real cai, untill i saw this. Nope my turbo needssome wind! Will go another way on the cai setup..

If you open the area I described it will simply open that area to the same air coming into the scoop. It will not eliminate the air going through the duct work to cool the turbo. As far as the glowing turbo I'm not suprised. The best thing you can do to help with that is gutting/removing/replacing the cat with a high flow cat. It will reduce the exhaust/turbo temp greatly and give you a horsepower boost(more so for turbocharged cars).
