my wife just hit 1000 miles on the SRT-4 so I changed the oil. I run AMSOIL in all my cars and trucks, so thats what the SRT-4 got filled with. AMSOIL 10w-30. I just want to know what other people are useing in their cars and trucks.

 

I use mobile 1 I used quaker state full S. once, but it seem to run a little smoother with Mobile 1 so I will use that from now on.

 

I alternate between AMSOIL 10W-30 and Mobil 1 10W-30 (stable climate here in Texas). The two oils use a different base stock and tests have shown the AMSOIL will actually thicken to a 40W oil if you run it long enough. But it also has slightly better wear protection than the Mobil 1, so it's a trade off. That's why I use both.

 

Mobil 1 10w30.

 

Winter- Mobil 1 5W30 Summer- Mobil 1 10W30

 

First Oil Change was Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 10w-30 Car kinda liked it....

Second Oil Change was Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 5w-30 Car liked that alot better

Third Oil Change was Mobil 1 Full Synthetic 0w-20 Car loves this. And I get better gas mileage (I don't drive hard) Took PSIChicks advice on that one, I believe she runs the same viscosity. My car is ALOT happier with this oil. And oddly enough (and I'm not the only one to experience it. It seems that with each change of oil the turbo seems to spool up faster (especially now with the 0w-20.

I change the oil every 3,000-5,000 miles in my skittle. I have 14,100 now. And he's happier than ever with his oil.

 

i wouldnt run anything under a 10w40 turbos break down oil faster when its under 30. thats just my experiance from 6 turbo cars. i run 15w50 mobil one. but yea your cars gunna run faster it has less fricton fromt the oil. but dont a good move for the long haul. your putting extra wear and tear on your turbo. and trust me that extra hp isnt worth the break down of your turbo/motor over the years. thats just me tho!

 

Technically, 10w-30 and 5w-30 will have the same viscosity hot. I use Mobil one 5-30 all year round. I may be imagining this, but I swear my turbo spools up quicker with the 5w-30. The Amsoil and the Mobil both have pros and cons, but in a test in Cycle world magazine, the Mobil held up better in the heat test than the Amsoil. I feel heat is our #1 enemy. Romp on your car at night and then open the hood in the dark, that manifold glows bright red. My buddy who has a 440 six pack B body saw that and it frightened him! LOL

 

I use the 5-30 for any season. Synhetic oils dont break down like conventional ones do and its true that 10-30 & 5-10 are the same weight when hot. Your owners manuals call for 5-30 in the car now (after the 10-30 fiasco they printed before for the 03's then changed it to 5-30) use what the manual "reccomends" Mobil1 5-30 and you should save some on your gas mileage too.

 

Does it maker what oil to use for the really hot summers i have. now it's about 85 and in may-sep it stays around 100 to 110 and some days 116. just want to make sure my babe stay cool in the engine. What's the best oil to use in hell is what i'm tring to say?
