Cobalt SS & Motor Trend
Rumor around the mill is that the new Motor Trend has a comparison between our little rocket and GM's late entry... I haven't seen the article yet (and there is no link available on motortrend.com)...
again rumor - they liked the SS over the SRT and both had comparable times overall... now, talk amongst yourselves - the topic - Cobalt SS and the impacts to SRT's...
Just my opinion on it... GM waits until Dodge gets out of the "pocket rocket" market... there is no comparison...

I read that damn article. Its saying the srt is running a 14.5 I think in the quarter, and in every comparison they were within tenths of each other. But if you flip to the back where it has all the tests that they recored it has an srt running a 13.9 in the quarter. Motor Trend sucks, it isn't even reliable information within its own magazine. I am catching so much crap from this at work. I told them find me a cobalt SS and I would put that car to SHAME.
You aint lying!!! there's a guy somewhere near my area that has one. He revs his engine everytime he see's me or another SRT... little that he knows..........

I don't think that those people realize that with stage 2 set to dab 0 and no supporting mods, we put out 177 hp and 20_tq. Compared to the Cobalts 18_ and 21_ That is running the current system with around 6-7 lbs of boost. Now, if the srt-4 puts out similar numbers witht he boost retarded like that, how in the world can a Cobalt keep up when it is pushing 14 lbs or more?????
Oh well - more cocky drivers to beat into submission makes me happy.

I read an article on the Cobalt vs SRT4, I don't remember if it was MT or Car and Driver, but they said the SRT they tested seemed down on power compared to the last one they tested. It also only had 1000 miles on it. We all know how production vehicles are, some run better than others. I don't really compare 0-60 times. Speed magazine has a 425hp WRX Sti......it only ran a tenth quicker to sixty than the "run of the mill" STi. Quarter mile trap speeds and times tell more about a cars performance than 0-60. Just my opinion.
As for the Cobalt bieng faster......[sm=noooo.gif][sm=forgetit.gif]

I agree with SRT_YA, there really is no comparison. And its also true that its kinda funny how the Cobalt SS is coming out right when the SRT-4 is about to drop off the market as a production vehicle. They're probably figuring that people who wanted an SRT-4 or similar vehicle who missed out, will pick up the SS.
No offense to it, but the rear styling on it is hideous. Those tailights are a mixture of the Impala/Corvette/Skyline on crack. Just...weird.

Yes, performance wise I can agree with feeling bad for GM. I don't really like their styling either. The trucks aren't bad, but I'd get a Dodge Ram over any GM truck any day.
The only thing GM has, that I want....is OnStar.

the cobalt isn't THAT bad performance wise. it's a hideous looking car, yes. just looks like a redone caviler to me. and the wing on the ss is rediculous. but as far as the numbers go, yea stock we will kick its ***, but add a few mods to the ss and it should be a good race. i'm sure the aftermarket will jump on it soon enough just like they did the srt-4. i wouldn't count them out just yet....
