so, a member of another forum that i admin said that his friend has a 10 second SRT4, and that he dyno'd to 500ish hp. i was curious what the fastest times are for the SRT4 so far, and what kind of power would be needed to move a full trim SRT4 to 10s.

there is no 10 second srt....yet. there are a few that are capable of hitting it, two that i can think of off hand, but neither of them have yet. low 11's yes, 10's not yet..

i highly doubt there will ever be a "street legal" 10 second non-supercar.

 

Just went to the F.A.S.T. class races here in Martin Mi. You should see them if you can. Factory Appearing Stock Tire muscle cars. Numerous ones posted LOW 11's. Get this now; Full muffled exhaust no larger than 2.5 inch. Street tires stock sizes. Air cleaners and filters in place. No power adders allowed. With larger tires, even D.O.T. streetable ones I'm quite certain these guys would be in the 10's.
What does this have to do with our Neons? Nothing but in reply to Gump I can tell you most of these cars would pass as a completely stock car and none of them were supercars. Just Cudas, Challengers, Super Bees, Chevelles, Skylarks, Camaros, Gto's etc. Regular old muscle. Full interiors, functioning accessories, cast iron exhuast manifolds for crying out loud!
It was amazing. These cars could all have been licensed here in Mi. (NO EMISSIONS TESTING)
Of course they aren't completely stock, but you can't see or hear anything to the contrary. ;-)

 

the mustang that we are building will be street legal, and should run 9's. it will run in the true street class in nmra. it is very possible to make a fast car street legal, you just have to know how to do it. there will be a 10s street legal srt soon enough.....

Same here!! i seen 9 & 10 sec cars in Hawaii. Civics!! As far as SRT's, there's a 11.554 here in Germany. Not sure on the HP. I saw him on the last 'Race Wars'.
