I know the upgrades are not certified but...
I've read a zillion times how the stage kits are not certified for street use. I've been reading these disclaimers for performance parts longer than most of you have been alive. In many of these cases the car would still pass an emissions test after the mods. My question is, does anybody know for sure how much if any will my emissions change when adding the stage 1 or 2. ( 3 is too expensive with new born twins ) I know each state is a different test. I'm in NYC which is probably like being in automotive **** Germany ( next to CA. ), but if the dirty gas numbers dont change that much, who cares if its not certified. And I dont care about all the warranty stuff, I rarely push the car to its limits. Like an old Pontiac commercial once said " the thrill of owning a muscle car isnt going fast but having everybody know that you could if you wanted to"
i live in westchester/bronx. i have s3 and i passed. not without some contructive parts added on by some fellow owners, but it passed! if you have a non-toys ecu then you'll be fine. if you get a stage with toys, you just need to get one of the nifty little boxes that will be released soon that get rid of those pesky codes and you'll be all set.
PSI Chick, we need a sticky about this too. Staged Kits and Emissions. PM me something and we'll collaborate it. I.e. what these constructive parts are, and how to pass if your w/toys.
it would have passed w/o the cat wow im impressed guess these stage kits are dialed in prety well.
