Mopar and Stages for the SRT-4
ok now I have been reading and there has been soo much about the Mopar parts, i am talking about "oem" mopar. Some say its covered under warranty, some say not. Some say that the dealer has to install it to be covered, some say DYI and it will still be covered! so which is which? errrrr....
Another question I have is, what are the stages for? like 1, 2, and 3. Obvious dumb me, its for more power...but anyway,
What comes in stage 1?
What else is added to stage one to make stage 2?
Same as above but for stage 3??
see this is where i am confused, moving up stages, do they use "mopar oem" parts or what???
Also ppl talk about extra toys for the car?? "toys" like what, an aftermarket dual exhaust??

mopar (oem) means replacement parts only. mopar assessories are things like mud flaps, door guards and such. mopar oem parts include things like pvc valves, stock axles, and other parts.
mopar performance are the folks that make the stage kits, cai, exhaust, etc. these are not "mopar" and not oem. they are considered aftermarket as far as any dealer (and dcx) is concerned. mopar performance parts come with no warranty. yes, i really mean no warranty on the parts.
mopar parts will not call into question your warranty, they are stock replacement parts. mopar performance parts can cause your warrnaty to be restricted because they are considered aftermarket. mopar is not the same as mopar performance.
to read all about the stage kits, go to www.moparperformance.com there's too much info to be typing it all out when it's all there already.
ok i saw in your other thread about not understanding how aftermarket parts and installing them yourself does not void the warranty. we are covered by a law called the manguson-moss act. basically what this means is that no dealership can flat out void and/or restrict your warranty based solely on the presence of aftermarket parts. they must prove that the parts installed cause the failure of whatever part you're trying to get fixed under warranty. and then the warranty on only that part is voided or restricted. this sounds all nice and good, but in reality it's not very effective. a lot of times the dealer will attempt to flat out say that your warranty is voided, and people have been successful in using this law to get them to fix their cars. it does not matter who installs the parts, as they cannot just void your warranty because of them.
many dealers have become wise to the fact that srt owners know about this law, and are telling them that there will be no problems as long as they install it. this is bs for two reasons - 1. it doesn't matter who installs it, it cannot flat out void your warranty. they then get you to pay outrageous prices for them to install parts that you can do yourself, and possibly can get you to pay their mark up for the parts themselves. 2 - the dealership has no say when it comes to voiding your warranty. they can refuse to do warranty work on your car, but they cannot void/restrict your warranty. only the dcx regional rep can do that. the regional reps do not care who put in your parts.
