Default Moadog-Mopar STS Install Tips

I installed my Maddog 50% reduction shifter today. Pretty straightforward install and the thing shifts great! Going through the gears is very short lever travel and firm positive clicks into the gears. Two Tips that helped me: I had read to use large slip joint pliers or a flat screwdriver to get of the "Clips from Hell" off. I found that a large pair of Vice Grips grabbing each clip and pulling straight back did the job after one big tug. I sprayed the clips and bushings with PB Spray which had done wonders for me whem removing the Heat Shield Bolts. This stuff is Great and reduces surfce tension and makes impossible parts easy to remove.
I went with the standard length shift lever with the Modern Performance Alloy Ball with screws on to an adapter held with 8 allen set screws. It looks good and the extra weight helps shifting.

lol..short shifters ARENT all that good...i think yours is TOO short. Remeber your tranny? or did you forget about it! 30-40% decrease is perfect, but if its too short, man good luck with the tranny gears! EI: tranny rebuild!! I've seen it happen on many cars before!!

oh sorry...my friend had owned a Supra Twin turbo. His shifter was sooo short that it didn't give the gears to shift in time..meaning the **** was about 2 inches away from the console or what ever. He had to replace the tranny along with a longer shifter but was still a short shifer. Another one of my friend ahd the same thing happen too, it was on a 95 Camaro. They both lost thier tranny's. I mean the shifters looked sick, but then it wasn't worth it after 1 yr of it on the cars. I might be wrong but thats what they told me, it was thier shifters.

short throw shifter with a 30% or 50% decrease is related to the shifters throw (how far you have to pull it back to change gears)... not how tall the shifter arm is (though some short throws do change this height). I don't think the Mopar STS (which was designed for Mopar and sold through Mopar) would be that harmful for the trans... well, at least I hope not

Do some research before you post please. At least have a clue of what you are talking about before you give advise. If you have a question don't be afraid to ask it, but don't guess at what your talking about and look like an ***.
