This is a Dodge Forum and not an Eclipse forum, there would be a problem if we were on an Eclipse forum saying how we don't like it and that it's ugly since that would then most likely be considered flaming, but this being a Dodge Forum means it isn't. Saying bad things about a Dodge here would be considered flaming, but there are exceptions. It all comes down to how it is written/said. The way you worded your first post in this thread is a flamatory remark about what we happen to like. What you did and continue to do is no different than us going into a Supra forum and saying their Supra's are laughable fugly slow grocery getters, everyone there would get pissed and start attacking back, you would more than likely be one of them too. You and your like minded friends are not everyone and there are just as many that like the Neons as there are ones that don't. There are some Neons that I think look really good and others that I don't like, but the SRT-4 and some other Neons with the right body kit look great. Stating your opinion is one thing, taking it past that as you did is entirely another when you know just about everyone here has a differing view point. I've been to the track many times and I have yet to hear or see anyone pointing and snickering at any SRT-4.

I personally think that my SRT and the new eclipse look good.But i never see the cars stock in my head,I always try and picture what they "could" look like.

oh yeah, about that- i have yet to have someone talk sh_t about my car at the track- on the contrary, all the other import guys always want to check it out, look under the hood, whatever, so i'm not sure where your statistical sample is from.

 

I just got my srt4 and before i did i test drove the eclipse. it is a car that feels like its towing a boat behind it, it's not overly fast from the get go and its got no room at all in it. for such a big car compared to an srt4 its got no room for anyone over 5'8 in the back seat. no doubt its a step up from the last eclipse but i see a srt4 beating it, its just alot of weight and not enough hp to get that thing goin in the beginning

 

Cant we all just get along? Ha Ha. Anyway saw the Eclipse reviewed on Motor Week? few months ago. talked about improvments such as getting rid of the "Cheese grater" door panels, their words not mine. Yes it's heavy not really a tru performance car. they made a good observation, they have the Evo's that is their top dog, why wood they want to confuse the issue? I'm not saying it's right to not make the Eclipse faster but see it all over, marketing and branding. chevy never made a car faster than the Corvette, that was their top dog (sorry Camaro owners) like it or not.

Second thing, I'm not a gear head (not that smart), for the most part you can look at HP to weight and tell which car is faster. I know there are other factors, for example our cars have launch issues. FWD but more so traction issues with stock tires too much power stock or the wrong tires. I know drive train and many other things matter but none of them have ever added even 1 HP from the flywheel back they just minimize the loss. So unless some part of your system is badley designed it goes back to HP to weight. that should limit some of these disscusions! Also reasonable to compare SRT-4 to cars with 260-270 HP at fly wheel. Now look at Weight I think the rest all falls into place!

I think eclipses are one of the greatest stock looking cars, My opinion. I also think the srt4 came out and kicked some *** it looks so mean.
I am a fan of the 1st and 2nd geration eclipses. Well i like the talon bodys better but ill keep it on subject.

I have yet to see the new eclipse in person, and drive either the srt4 or the new eclipse.

BTW I would put my money on the srt4 over the NEW eclispe. Not much more hp from the eclipse and they are a little heavier. just my opinion.
