whats this about the 04' being the fastest of the three years?
I was reading on srtforums and i came across this response to a post. A guy was thinking about buying an srt-4 and needed some info blah, blah, blah and then some guy responds with this: (this is an exact quote) "DEFINITELY. Like double the warranty time and I've seen '04's make way more power with a wastegate and exhaust than many 03/05's with many mods." Whats up? I thought the 04's and 05's were exactly the same. Are the 04's really faster? If so, why?
no srt is exactly the same, a lot have boost leaks of some sort and 05 and 04 have some differences... it depends on each car. ive beaten modded srts with my stock one. driver is key from a roll and different set ups come in to play too. there are so many factors to make that comment true that i woudlnt even say something like that.
i agree that it's a little too general of a statement, but it's not completly incorrect. from working on cars and seeing other owners, the 05's seem to have the most problems and perform the worst. they also seem to not like mods. this doesn't apply to every car of course, but to many that i've seen/heard about.
03 and 04 are the best years for this car imo. now many people will say go with the 04 because of the "higher hp" (which is bs) and the lsd. get a s1 on a 03 and they're even so give up that argument. that brings us to the lsd. i've driven my car with and without lsd. and while it's nice to have lsd (especially at the track, gotta love one legged burn outs), it's not imperitive that the car have it in my opinion.
i will also say that there are noticably more factory freaks in 03 than any other year.
so take all that as you will.......

The PCM is not common among the three years. Stock, the 04 is a better car than the 03, but who remains stock? The 05 PCM may make the same power as an 04, but it's a little less mod friendly.
Once modifications begin, the only advantage the 04 has over the 03 is OEM blue paint being available and 'old mustard' yellow deleted (except for a few problem cars that slipped through at the beginning of the 04 build). The LSD can be retrofitted, the stronger axles can be retrofitted, the coolant overflow bottle can be retro-fitted, it all can be retro-fitted, or replaced with aftermarket parts.
While the 05 should have 'the best of the breed' for everything, some of the updates to the PCM (and it's supporting computers) may not be desirable, but S3R solves that problem easily.

Dale

JK...E.Blue till ya die fool! hahaha
I am only speculating but why did Dodge quit making the SRT4 ?
Could it be because of all the mods and warranty issues/lawsuits?
Seems like dealerships have become very hands off and very unhelpful with the stage upgrades...
Do you think that they made the 2005 with a more passive PCM to not allow as much reliability with mods?
Not trying to act like I know anything but I do read allot and I seem to see allot of posts on this forum and in the other that have people complaining about the 2005...maybe its just because they are new to it...but seems strange..
