First Modification?Whats good in your opinion?
Hey guys whats going on?In January I will be purchasing an 03 or 04 SRT-4 and was curious as to which mod I should do first for the money that I wont regret down the line.I am planning on running a Stage 2 upgrade from Mopar somewhere down the line if that helps any.I have been researching alot on all of the modifications that I can do to this awesome car but aren't quite sure which to perform first if ill be upgrading the turbo in the future.I know money is a major issue as to which I should do first but I would just to get some input as what I should do first, second, etc.I have heard the OCC's are a good bang for your buck but what else?Like usual any input will be greatly appreciated,Thanks for your time!

Here's a decent upgrade path:
Stage I
Aftermarket WGA
Boost Controller (I'd go with an EBC w/ gear or speed dependent boost features)
Exhaust (at least 2.5" turbo back, 3" if a turbo upgrade is in the future)
Fuel Computer (D-Tec, S-AFC, etc...) Dyno Time (At this point you'll be around 260-275whp)
Water Injection (Devil's Own or Snow Performance, both have a progressive controller) Dyno Time
Return Fuel Line kit w/ a Rising Rate Fuel Pressure Regulator. (Set regulator to 58psi and leave the vacuum/boost reference line disconnected)
3 Bar MAP & TIP (Connect vacuum/boost reference line to RRFPR) Dyno Time
Upgraded pressure pipes w/ an aftermarket Blow Off Valve
Aftermarket Large Front Mount Intercooler. (At this point you'd be right at 300whp, if properly tuned)
Turbo Upgrade (50 trim, GT30 are both a good size) w/ 750cc injectors. (After more dyno tuning this will put you right at 400whp on pump gas, more on race gas)
Things that can be added at any point that won't necessarily make more HP, but will help tune:
Wideband Air Fuel Ratio Guage and/or Data Logger
MSD DIS-2 or DIS-2 Programmable Ignition (this will give you a 2 step launch rev limiter which will help)
30psi boost guage

if you plan on going with S2 later on, don't bother with S1 personally... exhaust (Mopar if you don't plan on going to wild on horespower modders)... a short throw is a nice snag, I like mine a lot. A BOV doesn't add power, but it gets you looks while shifting ;-)
you kind of need to decide what you want to do with your car. For me, I went with S2 w/toys, short throw, exhaust, NGK plugs and wires, OCC, front strut tower brace... added some window tint, maybe S2 coilover kit and some rims and tires and I am done.
exhaust and short throw would be two of the first mod's I'd recommend if you plan on going with S2 later on.

I like Stage one as a starting point. It desensitizes the PCM to overboost codes and the 1/2 o2 sensor codes. They are easy to sell if you want stage 2 later too. It's like a foundation to start with for mod's.
Hey, my car with stage one beat a high 12 second SRT three times on the street.

Thanks for the input guys!Well im really leaning towards the 04's considering they already come with stage 1,LSD,bigger axels(the 04's produced in late August I think?)and a couple of other goodies.I guess ill go with 3" exhaust, short ram intake, and short throw shifter for a start.Im not sure where to get all this fuel management stuff, does anyone have any experience with the Greddy E-01?My friend has it and says it works good.At least for boost control thats what I had in mind.I have heard that Honed Intake Manifold is a great combination with the 60mm Throttle Body.Would these two things be good to add after the Exhaust and Intake? Thanks again guys your really helping me out here. Also I heard MaxxFab has a good downpipe to go with the 3" catback exhaust?Where could I purchase a D-Tec or an S-AFC?
