good cop/bad cop
Situation:
One week ago, I am picking up my sister (yes,,,,that one) and am going to take her out to dinner. I pick up my cell phone and say, "Hey, sis, I'm on my way to pick you up, are ya ready?" She says, "Word,,,,,,give me ten minutes before you get here, so that I can get the groceries up." Okay,,,,got it.
I decide to just cruise around for a bit. I hit a little back road and slam it into second and whip it up to 60 mph. Huh? what's that???? OMG......cop sitting on the side of an access road. %$$#$#$%^&&**(((*&*^%$#$####@
I get pulled over. Sick feeling in my stomach.
Cop: I clocked you at 58 mph back there.
(I have gotten enough tickets to fill a sears catelog in my life, so I decide to just throw myself on his mercy)
Me: Yes,,,,,I am sure I was doing that much. I was killing time to pick up my sister and even though I know better, I decided to punch it on this back road, because I thought it was a safe place to wind it out. I hope to God that you don't give me a ticket, but if you do, then it is because I didn't leave you any other choice.
Cop: Where do you work?
(I HATE THIS QUESTION. WHY IN THE HELL DOES IT MATTER WHERE I WORK???? I WANT TO SAY, "WHERE DO I NEED TO WORK TO GET OUT OF THIS TICKET?" But I don't. I tell him where I work and then he asks me for my insurance and driver's license.
Cop: Be back in a minute
(five minutes later he comes walking back to my car holding a piece of paper......ugh)
Cop: Word, why were you in traffic school last year?
Me: Uhhh,,,that was two years ago, wasn't it?
Cop: No, 2004.
Me: I had gotten two tickets for speeding in one year, and I thought that by going to traffic school it would lessen my insurance costs.
Cop: I'm going to give you a warning
Me: Are you serious???
Cop: You were honest with me, and I don't hear that often. But look, this is a Saturday night, and you should be the kind of person that sets examples for all these kids out there that are drving fast. If you want to do "spirited" driving, take it out of town somewhere, okay?
Me: Thank you for giving me a warning. I hear of people getting out of tickets all the time, but I never have. I've always taken them and paid them. I'll try to be more careful and thanks again.
I wish more cops were like this guy. He knew that I wasn't drinking or anything. He knew that it was a quiet little back road in town. Because he had the attitude that he did, it made me want to live up to his expectations. You just hear a lot of bad cop stories, but this was one of the good ones.

dont ya just love nice cops...the bad ones are the kind that let the T and A go if ya know what I mean....my sis has only had 1 ticket in her whole driving priveledge and has been pulled over more then me...lets face it a cop should judge you by your character......he cant be nice to everybody but he can sure try...And whoever said cops dont have a quota is full o sh*t....
I, like you all, think that cops have a quota, too. I know I've done my share to help them get their freaking quota.
And you know, the question of, "where do you work?" just irks the hell out of me. What difference does it make where I work? I *think* they are just concerned that I might be some city employee or something, but even then, it pisses me off, because it makes me think that people are getting out of their tickets because of where they work.
To me, and this is naive, but if you get a ticket, then you should pay the thing. I know a LOT of people who get out of their tickets. Every time that I've been pulled over and have gotten a ticket, I have dutifully gone and paid the freaking things. It just gets me that, because of who you are in society, you get out of them. The law should be applied equally across the population. Never gonna happen, but that's the way it should be. I wouldn't ever mind paying for a ticket, if I knew that everyone else was, too.
If you are guilty you are guilty. Now, with all that being said, I certainly didn't ask the cop to take back his warning and give me a ticket.....LOL. It's just that I would like to see the law applied fairly.

Ok, where do I start
Cops don't let girls out of tickets. I'm 19, consider myself good looking, have both T & A
, and I never get out of anything. I have had enough tickets in the last 3 years to kill someone, and at one point didn't have a license. (Colorado has a stupid point system). Here they don't let girls out of anything. I had a cop tell me once, "If you can run with the big boys, you can get the punishment" WTF is that supposed to mean? Seriously.
Also, every cop does have a traffic ticket quota. I dated a guy for 2 years and his Dad was a cop and he told me a lot about why they give out warnings and what to say when you get pulled over, obviously that didn't help, but still. . . .

colorado??? Nuff said, they love ticketing anybody especially their own...my friend was MP down their and loved going after anybody...especially riced out cars and even if they werent doing anything wrong he would find stuff wrong w/ their cars. I told him I would call him a D*ck and prolly punch him off duty for puting me through that kind of struggle.

I think what the spirit of his comment means, is that they have a quota of tickets they are supposed to get, even though its not a rule.
Cops arent supposed to profile people either, but they still do it. The honest truth is most cops dont try to hand out X amount of tickets each month, but they do try to do their jobs, otherwise someone may wonder why the tickets are dropping yet the crimes are still going on at a normal or raising rate.
