Here are a few other sources that have the SRT-4 turning times closer to what I've seen them run at the track, I like to call them exibit A and B:

As you can see here, the SRT-4 usually runs low to mid 5 second 0-60 MPH (5.3-5.5), high 13's at 102-103 MPH in the 1/4 mile and hit the skid pad at .85-.86g on average. And all this is coming from a tall cheap economy car that beats the far higher priced sports cars that are shorter, usually lighter and lower to the ground. I never really cared for the RX-8 and I only like the 3rd gen. RX-7's. The 350Z is hideous as is the G35. The only thing the RX-8 has going for it is it's weight distribution and handling. Besides, how often has anyone bragged about their skid pad? The only ones that do are the ones that don't have anything else worth mentioning. Most people only care about 1/4 mile times and top speed, they care about the usual light to light performance or freeway romp, they could care less about running through twisty mountain roads that they will most likely never even be on, let alone race on.

We all love our own cars for our own reasons....

I drive an 04' RX8... It's a great car... Not the fastest and certainly not the slowest one around.
Not to knock your car but, we're driving two different animals...
You guys drive hamburg and we're driving steak....

You could most likely beat the 190 hp A/T (low power version).
I must say that the RX8 will look better loosing then does the Neon winning.

As for the 6-spd RX, you'd have a hard time with a kill if you're both comparable drivers
(and the RX8 is normally aspirated ~ non-turbo)!

And if you have the misfortune of finding one of us with an after market turbo...

Yes we all love our cars for our own reasons....and I love mine because I can dust a $35,000 Mazda with it. The RX-8 I raced belongs to a very very good friend of mine. It is an 04 six speed. I like the car very much, but don't talk ****...it absolutely cannot hang with an SRT-4. As much as I hate magazine racing, the SRT's numbers put up by the car mags are easily reproduced on the street, I think you would be hard pressed to find too many RX-8's that can run magazine numbers out there. My buddy admits readily that his car can't touch mine. I really do like the RX-8, it is definitely a kick *** looking car, and it is a pretty good performer.

We do drive 2 different animals, I agree with you on that, but why the hamburger comment? I will continue to drive my hamburger SRT while looking at your steak through my rear view. We love our cars because you simply cannot get this kind of performance for the price from any other car.

BTW, how many times have you been driving on a mountain road and had someone try to race you? It happens to me at stoplights almost every day. If, by luck or chance, it is ever you next to me at a light, we'll see who's steak and who's hamburger!!

speaking of what car is better, faster. a guy at work just got a honda accord, he likes it cause it has a 6 in it, he likes the power it has over the 4 banger. he asked me twice how much power mine has, both time i told him about 220. he said , both times he says: oh, it's a neon, i figure it would have 160. think i should mention the intercooler and turbo? hey the bosses WRX is a 4 banger. poor jerk. paid more than me, and still has to get a 500$ spoiler, for looks only. lol and his car is nice and quiet he says, how the hell do you know it's on if you can't hear the rumble from the exhaust?

One of two things happened.

1) Your friend doesn't know how to drive a stick
or,
if he does know how to drive a one,
2) he probably felt bad for you and let you win.
After-all, it was a "very very" good friend.

Um....I don't know what to say.

Have we met before my friend just raced RX8 Stick tonight and he beat him by 2 and half car lengths. The guy first talked a bunch of trash to us because we were both in our SRT-4's eating some dinner. He just kept talking about how his RX8 is so much faster and better than our SRT's.

I've beat 2 myself.

Shrug...I don't know...I like the RX8 it has nice body style and its pretty fast car never the less. My friend oddly calls it Doctors new BMW.

As to RX8 with Aftermarket Turbo beating SRT-4, Um...My friend Jeff beat one in his Midnight Blue SRT-4 and beat him by large margin. About 2 car lengths.

Now my friend Tony has beast out of all of us. He has Black '04 SRT-4 that is pushing toward 500hp mark. He only races for money though. I've yet to see him get beat by any car around here.

I'm a fan of the RX7 as my friend Brian owns one and you feel like you are laying down in that thing.

 

I will admit that I don't drive a real car, I just fabricated the entire story. I did it hoping you would show up here and call me out. It is like a big weight off my shoulders now that I can face reality. Thank you so much for helping me. I can now go to the local Mazda dealership and purchase a real car. I sure hope I find an SRT-4 or two out on the road after I get my "real" RX-8 so I can put those poseurs in their places. They should know better than to mess with "real" rotary power. Please accept my deepest gratitude for freeing me from my prison of deceit. Let me also apologize if I offended you in any way by insulting your "real" Mazda with my farcical meanderings.

Just one question for you...have you ever raced an SRT-4, or are you guessing that it slower?

I have no real life and like to go to internet forums and make fun of people's cars. It's really fun. You can type and say anything you want and make up stuff if need be. I know this because my Ferrari that I built myself is the fastest car on the planet and can beat anyone elses car that says they are faster. I know, I built it! It has like 1000 hp...

I've been searching my area for an SRT-4 to "kill"...
I haven't found one yet [:@].
I'm sure eventually I'll find one...
even if I have to test drive one from my local Dealership.

Claims without proof are like saying you have a twelve-incher....

First, lets' discuss "real" cars. And "real" drivers.

"Real drivers" enjoy cars, whichever kind. All cars have good points and bad. Except Chevettes. Hell, I even enjoyed a drive in a Yugo once.

"Real drivers" generally modify thier cars for greater performance. I submit your mod list.

Polished Rotary Accents, Mazda Seatcovers, Aero Flares, RX-8 Pillar Trim, Door Edge Guards, Momo Shifter, 3rd Brake Light Mod.

Mopar Stage 3R turbo upgrade, Mopar 2.5 inch stainless steel 2.5 inch exhaust, Mopar STS, and my one appearance mod, Silverstar turn signals

Where's "your area"? I'm almost sure I could find you somebody to play with. Or you could follow this years One Lap of America, the one put on by Car and Driver. See how many RX-8s have been top finishers in their class, or even in the top 20. How about SCCA Prorally? Or maybe SCCA Solo II. Find me a place where the RX-8s out compete the SRT, except maybe a car show.

Me beating one wouldn't be a fair fight, most likely not even a blown one. so I'll leave that be. But your not accomplishing anything, besides making yourself look sad.
