Default Oil Catch Can

I have never said that i was a "car" guy. Mechanics wise that is, so i expect a few chuckles at my next question. What is a Oil Catch Can and what is it used for, i mean the name is self-explanitory but why is it something needed on our srt4s? And is it something that is needed?

The turbo on the srt-4 blows oil past the pcv valve eventually causing oil build up in the intake, intercooler, throttle body, etc. and at worst reaching the spark plugs causing them to fowl. So in short you need a occ to catch this oil before it gets to these areas. See the $20 occ sticky at the top. I have it and it works great. It is a cheap alternative to an $80 name brand. The occ is a must.

You'll end up shopping at Pep Boys, and either Wal-Mart or Lowes or Home Depot and spending maybe $22-23 dollars, tops. The actual "can" will be a Campbell Hausfeld Air Compressor Air Filter and added tubing and fittings and clamps. Remove the white filter element from the CH air filter for better performance......total assembly time, maybe 5 minutes. Total install time, maybe 7 minutes, even for a geek like me.....

And YES, you DO need one!!!! Here's mine after the install WITHOUT the clamps installed......

The bowl that collects the oil on the mini air filter ($20 occ) unscrews.
