Just don't sign off on the repairs until you test drive it and give it a good going over........

here here....
And stop in on the shop as often as you can, accept nothing but the best. We are #3 on the premium list after all.

Dude, sorry about your situation. I want to echo whatneon's advice, stop in on the shop very often, this way you can see the progress. Get to know the technicians working on your car - let them know you care about your car. Use some finesse when you approach them and remember they have the capability to do an exceptional job or an average one.

Good Luck.

I'm hearing ya. When our first Neon was wrecked, the loaner car we had to use (No other choice on the lot) was a PINK Hyundai Elantra. LOL! I kid you not! I can laugh about it now, but I was so pissed at the time. The car was brand new, but it was the biggest P.O.S. It made me feel as though I had just stepped out of a Bimmer and into a well, Hyundai. Two weeks I had to drive that pink contraption. I should have held off on accepting the Neon based on the stiffness of the rt rear window but I guess I was just too desperate to get back into a real car. It was probably planned that way. My experience with that car I must say does have me a little worried about the collabaration Chrysler has with Hyundai on the new world motors they will be using. Hopefully, the DCX side of the house fixes all the quality issues. I don't know how Hyundais are these days but those first ones had me convinced they were nothing more than an Asian Yugo. I did not expect them to be around by this time, much less with an expanded model line up. As much to my surprise as anyones, I actually kind of like the Tiburon though I have not driven one.
Sorry again about the car, but sounds like it will be fixed eh?

Tiburon are very nice, IMO. I almost bought one, but then saw the SRT-4 and couldnt stop myself. I would be driving that Tiburon right now.... Hmmm funny how things work out. I was on the way to the Hyundai dealer and saw the SRT-4 sitting in the back, stopped, went wait, it has dealer plates! That things mine! and drove it home like 2 hours and a tank of test gas later. But, back to the subject, congrats on keeping the car. Itll all work out great fo you.

LOL @ a pink Elantra!!! I skipped the rental on my insurance for some reason. I'm lucky in that for the most part transportation isn't a necessity for my day to day life so besides being addicted to driving the SRT-4 I haven't worried about a rental car yet. I know whatever I would get would probably be a disapointment anyways lol.

And I'll definitely be thoroughly checking out the car before anything is final. The good thing I think though is it seems the damage isn't as major as it first looked, there is just a lot of damage though. I swapped out the rims today, and noticed the rear strut is actually bent. So there'll be some suspension work done aswell. My rear seat is scraped up from the damn glass so I'll be pushing for a new rear seat. I have hope it'll all go good though!

Damn I just saw this thread now Andy, sorry to hear about that. And most important, you're okay. If things don't end up working in the repair favor, a dealer near me still has brand new SRTs.....fly out here, and take the road trip of your life home

Good luck with everything, keep us posted.

I have always wanted to drive cross country lol

UPDATE

Got a call this morning... It's offical, the car is totaled. Original estimate $8500, after inspection at the shop - over $17,000. Apparently some frame damage on the drivers side that is beyond repair.

What should I pay to buy it back??! There's a lot of good parts on it!

I wouldn't pay over maybe $2500-$3000. And that's pushing it but like you said, you've got some good parts like Stg 2, springs (if they are still good), and rims, and probably more. You could probably get all your money back and then some, and have parts to transfer to a new SRT if that is the route you decided to take. I hate to hear about the total, but in all honesty, with that much damage you are better off with a new ride.

I swapped the rims out before they took it from my house. What's on it right now, is maxxfab/borla exhaust, S2 w/o toys, basic water injection kit, aem SRI, mopar plug wires, agp motor and tranny mounts, rear strut bar, "welfare" sways, stage 1 springs. I think thats it. A decent amount of money right there. Then I figure there's a lot of excellent shape non-aftermarket parts on it.

And yeah, the more I saw all the repairs that were needed the less excited I got about it being fixed. Now it sucks figuring out what to get next.
