Default Stage 1 "not worth it" ?

For those of you that have said "Stage 1 is not worth it, just buy Stage 2", you had better do a little research.

Just last week someone had posted dyno numbers of over 400 WHP with Stage 1. There were many other mods added as well, but the PCM was a Mopar Performance Stage 1.

There are those (myself included) that are very happy buying a Stage 2 kit, bolting it on, and instantly gain 25-40 WHP. I think this is the safest way for me to upgrade.

There are also those (like the person mentioned above) that like to push the envelope, and try different combinations to get the most that they can out of after market parts. Ask him if Stage 1 was a waste of money.

My thought's exactly! Like the average Joe, I want to go as fast as I can and still have some hope of a warranty, that's why I'm sticking with the mopar stuff because it's tested and I know what I'm getting. When the warranty runs out I will have a very good starting place with the stage3 to begin extracting aftermarket power from this car.

And imagine how much $$$ it will cost to effectively get that much power to the wheels. The last I heard, the guy who had the most powerful SRT-4 dragster couldn't find a tranny that would handle the power. You have to approach street mods the same way...what you add in one area is going to affect another area, you have to balance power with handling, tires, etc..[sm=smiley20.gif]

Stage 2 consists of a mopar wga, larger injectors differents sensors and a pcm that when includes toys remaps for higher octane oh yeah and a boostcontroller to step it down to conserve gas. And everyone knows that there is a difference between the pcm w/and w/o toys. Both stage 1 pcm and stage 2(w/o toys) have the same functions. They allow you to hold boost higher and for longer. Stage 2 allows higher boost with the help of a WGA and gives you more juice with the help of larger injectors. Alot of people don't want stage 2 because of the cost. Stage 2 is the best package for the guy/girl that wants to bolt on and go without having to adjust anything for the best settings. You can buy wga's and boost controllers and get the same power out of stage 1 pcms that you can get out of stage 2. Yes, if the guy getting 400 hp used some stage 2 parts I am sure he would be getting alot more hp. After the cost of all those components and stage 1 he could have probably bought stage 2 w/turbo toys but not get near the hp with stage 2 alone. I would love to get 10 more hp with the mods I already have and be able to do WOT shifts and hold boost for longer and part throttle full boost for less than 400$. I spent 200 on an intake and 300 on the mopar exhaust and I know I didn't get the same benefits from stage 1. I am getting stage 2 w/o turbo toys instead of stage 1. I debated on stage 1 a wga and boost controller but I dont' want to mess with the vac lines psi and lose psi somewhere and have to search for it. I'm willing to bet that the guy who's getting 400hp didn't do it in a day. Stage 2 w/o toys can be done in a day and it will be way faster than what I am now.

And t0973mf having a warranty is great but I personally don't trust the mechanics. I took my car in because I think I have a bad injector and got a p0340 code that said I was misfiring on cylinder 4. I took it in and they said nothing was wrong. The exhaust was popping intermitenly at idle which was not normal. They said that they let it run and heard it then pushed the gas and said it was normal because it pops when you let off the gas. It's not normal and I have to fix it myself so I guess that means that a warranty is only as good as it's mechanics. If you have an aftermarket intake it's not like you can hide it. They will see it and believe it or not unless you know them personally, you have modded your car and if it breaks they're gonna say it's your fault.

According to him he took off his S2 PCM and put back on his S1 PCM to get those numbers.

My only point is that S1 is NOT a waste of money.

Certainly not, the pros usually spend far more than $300 to get a 5% gain in power!!!!
Besides, now that I gotta little "bling" on mine (installed the 3D taillights), I gotta drive SLOWER to show them off!!!!!!![sm=smiley36.gif][sm=smiley20.gif][sm=smiley36.gif]

you're absolutely right however, they have to prove that the mod(s) is what cause the damage, if you know your rights and don't let them push you around you'll be fine, a intake and exhaust will not void a warrantee, unless you change your cat or modify it then you don't have a factory warrantee on your cat, but so what. They can't throw hypotheticals in direction and not warrantee it, atleast not legally, make them prove with facts, stay strong, and confident, and atleast pretend that you know what you're talking about so that way they just don't walk all over you like what a ton of mechanics do to a lot of women, key word a lot not all, but there is a lot of unethical people out there. it's unfortune it, but that's America we're free to do whatever and don't have repect for anyone.

You also have the right to have other trained mechanics to look at it too.
