so i finally got my parts i ordered.... I got je pistions .20overbore, rods, camshafts, springs and retainers, cam gears, agp wastgate, boost controller, o2 housing, coil pack and spark plug wires.... Puttin them on today and gettin the car tuned.. Hope the money spent was well worth it

 

So your saying your gonna build the motor but still run the stock turbo?

 

Yeah thats kinda confusing. So is the fact that you're getting an AGP WGA and an MBC...or is it an EBC? Because if you bought an MBC, that was a huge waste of cash

 

not at all. most of the big turbo guys run mbc's. no need to waste the money on a ebc when a $60 mbc does the same thing for a lot less. i'm using a mbc, there's a car being built here for 9's and it's on a mbc, in fact i only know two people running ebc's and there are a lot of fast cars in the ny/nj area.......

 

Yes but why buy an MBC when you wastegate has adjusments on it? And theres no stage kit in play. To me without that the MBC is virtually useless because you can't up it that high. The money could have been put towards an S1.

And I run an EBC, stock turbo....I wouldn't trade it for an MBC this side of the water. Esepcially since my car is a daily driver. I can turn my boost down into Lo mode for inclement weather, and drive around with it low...or if someone agitates me, with the flick of a switch an instant 19psi spike.

 

.20 bored over huh, nice. I'm assuming your having your bottom end machined because they won't fit a stock bottom end.

And why is a MBC a huge waste of cash? It's one of the best bangs for the buck. We used them all the time.

 

because hozay apparently regulating boost with your foot is too hard so you need a $300 ebc to do it for you!!!! haha

 

If you read what I said.....its a waste of money if you don't have a stage kit. The MBC in and of itself is NOT a waste of money. But if you have a WGA that can control its own boost, and if you DON'T have a stage kit then WHY bother?!

 

im gonna agree with sparkplug on this one agp has an adjustable WGA so wheres the need for a boost controller? and without any stage kit arent you going to overboost?

 

sorry i forgot to mention i was gettin the aem ems.... the boost controller i got was the turbosmart dual stage bc, so i cud just flip the switch to high when i need to or to low... but im still kinda of confused on the thing with the wastegate, someone told me if i wanted to raise the boost i would need to get one cause somethin about the wastegate not bein able to handle the boost level... could someone please explain to me the whole thing about why i need to have a wastegate..
