Default Close Call/Almost Nabbed by a Brother Officer

It ALMOST happened today, I was driving home and had just pulled away from a red light, in front of the traffic (as usual) and was giving it a "fair amount" of gas going up a slope when I glanced up and saw a Alamo Heights PD unit right on my tail. This guy was good, I don't know where the heck he came from! I looked down at my speedo and it read about 39 mph...the speed limit was 35. Alamo Heights is a small bedroom community right next to ours, and they "take no prisoners". I kept my head pointed forward (the cops notice when you look in the mirror) and didn't hit my brakes, letting the slope slow me down just a tad. I was just about to reach into my duty bag and wave my badge at him when we reached the city limits sign and he did a 180. Of course, today of all days, I was in my bike patrol uniform, looking like a Lance Armstrong wannabe....[:@]

my friend has a radar and detects when cops are near that are using the radar gun. But i went to an auto show and there were about 25 cops and it took a half an hour for it to go off.

Thank goodness no pic exist of our bike patrol uniforms (that I know of). Blue nylon shorts with cargo pockets, and blue shirts with IMPRINTED badges. Winter version is blue nylon bike pants (full length) and blue shirt with an optional black jacket with a REAL badge. Helmets are mandatory, of course.

It's true, Amanda! It's hard NOT TO SPEED! The SRT-4 is so smooth that the only sensation of speed comes when you hit the gas.....and THEN you remember where you are!!![sm=smiley36.gif]

Maryland has a special LE or "Law Enforcement" tag. My wife, as a civil service physical security specialist, is entitled, but she won't let me get'em, says I would be COMPLETELY out of control [:@]

Hmmm, not sure, but it's possible she's right

Nothing more annoying than folks who see an officer and slap on the brakes. "HEY, LOOK AT ME!!!!!!! I'M GOING TOO FAST!!!!"
Fools!!!!!!! In this car, engine braking can be as bad and attention getting as speeding or brake lights, it's so "aggressive" as Mopar calls it.

OK, maybe in a few days (when the Chief is on vacation!)

For the last few years, it really hasn't gotten that cold during the winter here (Global warming?). One or two days of a light freeze and that's about it. The orange and grapefruit growers in the valley as well as the peach and strawberry growers around here had bumper crops.....[&:]

Same here, Amanda. Forget Global Warming, we've had two cold fronts thru here in the last week. In August, that's unheard of!!! The weather from Dallas to San Antonio is the same, all messed up. Kinda reminds you of the world situation, eh? And we're still getting "For Law Enforcement Use Only" terrorist warnings and BOLOs for a number of terror suspects....sounds like an interesting fall and winter.....
