Default RE: If Your A Newbie, Post And Introduce Yourself

I live in the deep South and I enjoy traveling in a RV. I am the proud owner of a 2001 RAM2500 Quad Cab, long-bed pickup truick with a Cummin's 5.9LTurbo engine. With the cummin's engine, 373 rear-in, and over-load rear springs, It is rigged to work in the RV world. It easily pulls a 28' Fifth-wheel with an average GVWR of 15000 pounds. I am the second owner of this truck, and it had only 53400 miles on it when it bought itin 2005.It now has 89950 miles on it, and purrslike a kitten. After Icorrected acouple ofproblems, it is a very reliable vehicle.

Evidently, neither the previos owner nor the dealer understands how to maintain a diesel. The truck ran fine when I road-tested it before buying it. Of course my road-test was in a "no-load"
mode. When I did put it in a "loaded" mode, the truck would "stumble" and had no real power. After the transfer pump burned out, and I took it to a professional diesel machanic,He said thatthe fuel filter had notbeen changed often enough. I told him that had changed all the fluids and filters right afterI bought it. Yes, that probaly helped some, but the transferpump was already damaged, plus there waslotof crud still in the filter housing (fast lube place service) that got stirred up wth increased fuel flow when the enginewasin a "load mode."
When I took it back to te dealer, they said that thought the truck had had a transmission problem, and they had seviced the probem and thought it was fixed -- they didn't test it a "load" mode.
My second problem was a loose sensor in the transmission housing causing the truck to go into the 'Limp mode" and lose power. The loose sensor bump against the metal housing, short-out and send bad information to the control module, which in-turn would send bad instructions to the executing componets.
Now, my dash is crumblng into pieces.

Default Newbie....04 Dodge RAM 1500 Quad Cab 4x4

Hello - just posting a quick introduction. I just picked up my 2004 Dodge RAM 1500 4X4 SLT - HEMI (whatever else it has) yesterday. I got it for a song.....but I love it. High miles, but truly all highway....but so far, I love my truck.

I'll be looking for some lighting mods ASAP and also information from anyone who can help me with suggestions on maintenance or what to look for, etc. - on these trucks. It's my first time back in a truck in 8yrs. I'm also looking to sell my Benz - anyone want a 2004 CLK55 AMG??????

My truck has 122,000 miles on her....and she purrs! Just inspected and passed with flying colors. I'll get pics and more info as soon as I can get the chance.

Chris here 2006 Ram 2500 MegaCab 5.9L Turbo Beast. 4x2 almost all stock, put a shell on for my dogs and a leveling kit in the front to rid myself of the stink bug effect. This is my 3rd Dodge truck, just put on 36,000 miles so its time to play now that the warranty is up!
