Default 09 GMC 25500 work truck.

I work for a city utillity and drive a new GMC 2500 quad cab 4x4. This truck has a optional automatic with manual shift , + or - on the gear shift, 6 forward gears, and its fun to shift up, or shift down, 5.3 V/8. I'm not sure on the rear gearing.

The GMC is a really nice, quick performing truck, ground clearance is not that great and the revised dash board is all ready looking dated.

This is one quick truck, I'm positive its on par with the new hemi, A side from the seats, its a awsome truck to drive, for a work truck.

The down side is, its a thirsty bugger, MPG is is arround 7 to 8 mpg in city driving and the stock Bridgestone tires are crap.

The GMC feels lighter and less stable and has a rougher ride than my 06 2500.

The 09 5.3L does NOT keep up with the old hemi let alone the new one. Trust me I raced my rental and was destroyed by three seperate 3rd gens. The shifts are sloppy compared to the hemis and the interior rattles like it was never tightened up when it was put in... Simply garbage imo.

I'm thinking the Hemi in a 2500 isn't so racy. But then again, neither is the 5.3L.

How did you get an 09 2500 with a 5.3 it says right on GMC website anything 2500 and up comes standard with a 6.0 the only option is the 6.6 duramax...

Even the 6.0's are anemic as hell, so no matter if it is a 5.3 or the 6.0, still crappy.

I was just trying to figure out why he said 5.3 when the 5.3 has never been available in anything but 1/2tons since it came out in 99... the 6.0 has always been the base engine in 2500 and 3500 trucks...
