350Z vs Magnum R/T.....
I got behind a sweet looking dark red crossfire today, it wasn't an SRT6 though. earlier someone was talking about the 300ZX, the TT ones are pretty sweet (supposedly) but the N/a ones are dogs.
..here's a good one..I pull up to a light next to a conv 350z...guy with his girl..he's revin his motor to show off to his gf...light turns green and I put just enough throttle to stay even with him, mind you, he's layin into it, 3/4 of the way thru the intersection I lay into it and start walkin away...we got up to about 70 when the nex light came up ( I was about 3 lenghts on him by then). I then realized I was in the wrong lane to get onto the freeway (about 1/8 mile away) so I had to go full bore when the light turned green....so now, he's sittin at the light and revvin so I know it's on at green. Light turns green and I fully drop my pedal as did he. we both spun a little (I did alot)...but as soon as I had traction I leaped foward and immediately pulled ahead and got enough space to pull into the right lane and onto the freeway...boy was he pissed, wouldn't look at me as I let up and I waved hi to his gf...lol.. i love it when imports see my qc and thick it's automatic...
Yeah, the 'vert 350Z's kinda have weight issues. And if it was an automatic, w/ just an average driver, they quickly turn into mid 14-sec cars. They're kinda hampered by wheel-hop from a dig, too. I got the launch technique down on mine, but it took a little while. They shine on highway races though. Still, nice kill......
And on a side note, my dad has an '03 Hemi QC 2wd, w/ your mods (EDIT: minus the gears, he's got stock 3.92)and a little more. He kept telling me his truck would at least hang w/ my car.Well, wewere playing around getting off an on-ramp on the highway once, and let's just sayIproved himwrong, lol. He was a bus-length back at 100 or so. Mind you my car wasn't quite stock. And it's a 6-sp Coupe.
PS- As much as I like the Z's, the roadsters look like @ss IMO......

yea, the guy I ran didn't look like a motorhead..looked completely stock... has yur dad dynoed or taken his truck to the track?...i'm curious what his mods are and which cam he's runnin...
No dyno #'s. And although we have an 1/8 track literally a block away from our house, he has never ran it. It's mostly a show-truck, though. He's got an '06 front conversion, SRT-10 front bumper, carbonfiber SRT-10 hood, shaved rear-end w/ LED's, air-ride suspension, full audio setup, etc...... I know he has the 6.1 cam, headers, programmer, custom exhaust, throttle-body, intake, thermostat, etc. He's got to make some pretty good numbers, cause it fells pretty damn stout. I'd say it's a solid 9.30's for the 1/8th. I'll put it to you this way, I could just get out of my bolt-on Z, and his truck still doesn't feel slow. He's got a web-site you can check out at www.3rdstrike.biz He sells truck parts and stuff. You can also see his truck there. Later........
Hi guys,
I don't mean to Hijack post but...I see that R/T's have problems beating 350z. I am thinking about buying a SRT charger...do you guys think they are worth it? Iwas reading the forum and it seems like force induction is almost not a option...and the bolt on mods currently available are a joke...unless I am missing something. I have race many R/T's and 350Z and after my launch alone...the race is pretty much over and the said thing is, I have 22's on my car. I never ran into a SRT-8 though, and I was wondering how do u guys think they perform...and do you think the mods will get any better as time passes...

Comparing the cars stock, the SRT8's are quicker than the 350Z's. By quite a ways. The fastest SRT8's seem be high 12's. Fastest Z's are mid 13's. 5.7 Hemi cars are high 13's at best, I believe. So the SRT8 definitely is the quickest out of the three stock. It'd take an amazing driver in a Z, and a terrible one in the SRT to swing the race in the Z's favor. And that's only be from a dig.
As for the cars' potential, there seems to be pretty decent aftermarket support for them. GS Motorsports offers a supercharger kit. ATI is working on a Procharger kit. And of course there are exhaust, intake, etc upgrades for the. From what I've heard, the SRT8 cars respond pretty well to bolt-ons. Stock they dyno around 370ish, and it apparently isn't too hard to get well over 400whp out of them. As a previous LT1 car owner though, w/ your current mods, you might not be too impressed w/ a stock SRT. Speed wise, at least. But overall, they are very nice cars, w/ quite a bit of potential. Hope I answered some of your questions.

scg87,
thank you for your reply and yes you did answer my questions. I know and understand that stock cars, are just that...stock, so I don't expect to much from them from the factory. The thing I am interested in is their potential. I've seen one post so far about head porting. I do not know to much about dodgemotors but when I did my port job and cam swap I picked up about 90ish rwhp. Has anybody offered porting jobs yet. I know these cars are really new, and most people still have factory warranty, so maybe soon (year or two) things like that will be offered. I think I will test drive one if I can find one to see what I think. It is hard to buy a car right now, because of all the upcoming releases by chevy, dodge, and nissan. But the wifey wants a SRT-8...soooooo take that pocket!
