wow, i thought the new dakotas were supposed to be fast with their mighty 4.7 high output. i guess they're just way too heavy. My 2001 3.9 dak runs 17.4's and the only thing ive done is a cai and a 3 inch exhuast that actually hurts my low end, but it sounds good. Not to mention the new dakotas are ugly.

Anybody seen what a manual does compared to an auto; all else being the same. Any guesses on the E.T.s of a stipped down 2wd 6m v8?

I wish there where some serious engine mods from Mopar performance for the 4.7, but NOT! There is NOTHING!! I have the latest full Mopar catalog in front of me and the 4.7 is not found anywhere. The only thing that can be had is simple stuff from third party vendors. If you have an HO than you already have the performance CAM and porting. The EMC is factory programmed for the HO. The only thing you can do is go to a 70mm TB and CAI and Dual cutbacks. You can’t even get rid of the CAT since the CAN program needs to see it via sensors for the truck to run right. If you can hack into the CAN and do your own programming that may be a good start. Hopefully someone will build a good programmer for the 4.7 that won’t screw up the CAN protocol. I believe we may see Mopar offer 4.7 2nd. Gen. engines (2008) version goodies but our 4.7s and most likely willnever make into the performance catalog.
I really like my Gray II Dak but performance issues will always be there. Tundra with the 5.7 381 hp is king of the hill for now and the 5.7 Ram engine need to trump it next year to 385 or 390 hp and offer the 6.1 or 392 CID in the ram as an option. With gas as it is who knows.

I wonder how much it would cost to do a cummins swap, or if it's even possible... not that I could ever afford to do it, lol.

I dont think a regular cummins 5.9 would fit and would be way too heavy although it would be nice
