my 340 has low compression pistons, so it doesnt need anything more than 87 octane..it will run that well on 85 if i can find it. the compression is so low that it idled at my dads shop for a while one day, with a wing nut in the number one cylinder...it didnt hurt anything, and it didnt evern crush the wingnut...
who makes 100 unleaded fuel? is that cam2? or turbo blue? or are you cat-less?

and having a mid 12s lightning isnt unbelievable...now, if you had said, i have a lightning that runs 9.40s with snow tires on the back, and thats NA, or something of that like, followed by "but i dont have slips, or pictures of the truck"...or if you posted stock ford photos...i surely would have called BS on ya...

Really! I wish I could run lower octane with gas prices soaring. The 02 and earlier Lightnings are notorious for spitting out spark plugs, it's only a one and a half turn. They did not correct the problem until the 03's came out. I'm not sure who makes the gas. It's available at the track. I believe the tanks sy sunoco, but they are old. Last time it was $6 a gallon.

I didn't have the snow tires on the L, just the 35" mudders. I am in the south you know.

Just kidding.

"i actually remember when he called and told me that they ran the engine with a wingnut in number 1" Thats nothing really surprising I suppose, considering some of the complete dip$|-|!t mechanics out there...

"i lost to a diesel ram running 40 inch cepek mudders...he ran an 11.99" an 11 sec diesel w/ off road tires?! wtf!?! that is so retarded...who would race a diesel in the first place?

"i just dont know anyone who races who doesnt at least have like the fastest time slip kept" I only have one of my 3 slips saved for my GTS, but I dont have a scanner so I cant post it on here. And I dont have any slips for my other cars, either. I can tell you that my wife's 5-speed Mazda3 with a K&N Typhoon intake ran 16.104 and my first car (a modded 1986 Mazda RX-7) ran an all-time best of 13.880. That was pretty damned fast for a 17 year old in '91 by the way.

EDIT: Now that you've got me looking through all my crap, I've discovered that I have lied to you. I'm sorry, my RX-7 only ran 14.880... I dont know where I got the 13 from, but I always thought I had a 13 second Mazda. Hmm...seemed a whole hell of a lot faster back then...

who makes 100 unleaded fuel? is that cam2? or turbo blue?
100 octane unleaded is CAM2. There is a Citgo around here that has a CAM2 pump with the 100 octane unleaded on one side and the 110 octane leaded on the other.

Lampy,
What all have you done to your Lightning to get it running 12.6?

i wasnt sure if CAM2 was leaded or not...

yeah_i_got_a_hemi, it wasnt an intentional thing, just someone trying to "help" my dad work on the car...and they couldnt find a wingnut for the air cleaner...thats where it was..it certainly wasnt my dads fault...hell, hes got a 200 dollar junkyard engine and a 400 dollar, 3800lb car in the mid 12s...on a motor that hasnt been apart in 8 years..[8D]

and why woudl someone run a diesel truck? i would race anything, especially if it were a fully streeted propane and nitrous injected diesel ram. the mazda 3s run surprisingly well..ive seen a few relatively stock at the track in the high 15s...im guessing that your RX7 was a 13b turbo?

heres the car i had from the time i was 15...until i bought the RT when i was 23..
