i have been wanting to get to that track for a while...ive talked to guys who have run 2 tenths faster there than at our average track. actually, the guy who told me about that was racing a dakota RT at VRP.

Not in factory form anyway. However its simple enough to remove the 301 or 400 and build up a 455 which will drop right in place.

Trans-Am! My poor buddie at the track has been begging me to port his heads, he has a 1978 model, an 11.5:1 455 bored .030, 4.11 gears 3000 stall converter, it runs an astounding 13.48!
I always tell him to forget the junk heads and by some Edelbrocks.
Pontiac guys should get on their knees and thank God for Edelbrock heads.

 

The 1973 Firebirds with the 455 SD (Super Duty) were capable of running in the mid 13's in factory form as noted by numerous publications of the day.

This was with a engine rated conservatively at 275hp and fairly small tires. Bias ply?
