hmmm...i suppose that it is a bit more believable now...so long as the cobra doesnt have built internals to support heavy boost

 

The 351 can't handle much w/o blowing up anyway!! I don't think he had internals. As for the front coming up, that's just what the dude said about his own ride. I've never driven one, and don't care to for that matter!!! I wasn't impressed. He's not the first cobra, and doubt he'll be the last!!! I don't like running against cars out of my class, but he was talkin way too much smack and I had to put him in his place. The only thing that I've run that I was impressed with was a modded out Lotus on the interstate. This guy ate my lunch and spit it back out at me!!! He had to be a 200mph+ ride!! He did circles around me at 150.

 

have you had your car on the track?

 

All we have is an 1/8. Its not really worth it. The dragstrip isn't really my scene. I'm more into the curves, that's where the acr really shines!! Plus, the fastest time I've seen an srt run at the track here was a 7.36. The sti's are killing that with 6's. I like to race with a challenge, but it has its consequences!! I get my liscense back in a couple of weeks!!!

 

i would like very much to see an SRT4 run a 7.30s in the 8th (other than mchat) and an STi run 6s in the 8th...

 

Highly modded rides. The sti was twinned and sprayin, it sounded like a 747!!! I think I could get him on a good street course though!!! Maybe??!!

 

with AWD, and any mods to support that much acceleration, he should destroy you on any venue.

and kidding theyre highly modded...ive seen a 6 second quarter mile talon...but that 8th miel time for the sRT4 you mentioned is almost as fast as MChat, and ive not seen many, including at large import events who can turn those numbers...

 

The guy was super fast!!! Its a red 04 w/some huge exhaust. He's from north TN so I don't get to see it much, but he makes an appearance every summer just to impress!!! Maybe I'll be there one day, I'm always upgrading!! That, and I always race w/ 110+ in the tank!!!

 

351? What are you talking about? The '96 cobra is a 281 CID (4.6L) 32 Valve V8. Although a little anemic compared to todays cars, it was still capable of high 13s in stock trim. Now, you state that it had a blower. If this is true, even with a relatively small amount of boost, say 5-6lbs with an A-trim vortech, he would still have handed you your ***. You also said you did not think he had 'internals'. How would you know? Look, some of these SRT-4s can really move, but you are spinning tales! If this guy had what you said he would be putting down in the neighborhood or 350+ RWHP. This is enough to push that car deep into the 12s with a decent driver. In order for you to make him 'get small in your rearview mirror' you would need to be making a lot more horsepower or he decided that racing in excess of 135MPH is just pointless.
