05srt4 vs. 96 mustang cobra
His car was all self done, so he said. Mine's pushing around the 330 to 345 range, but I never race w/o at least 110+ in the tank. I don't race on the drag strip, I believe its a waste of my ride's full potential. I'm more of a street course person. The curves up the ante a little and its easier to rake in the $$$!!!
most people who "dont waste their time on a track" do so because theyll get smoked by serious racers....since it isnt a bunch of riced out cars...
im not surpirsed that a stage 3 wrx beat a new cobra...im actually more surprised that the wrx isnt faster.
if the 96 cobra here is properly done, he could be running a TON of boost...but there are alot of holes in this story....how does your stage 2 make "between 330-345hp", when stage 2 only makes an advertised 280?

The '03/'04 Cobras were underrated due to the fiasco with the late 90's Cobras being 'over rated' in the horsepower department. I believe there was a recall on the Cobras in the late 90's so that the SVT group could replace some parts (headers, etc) so they would make the advertised horsepower. If you take the weight of the Cobra and and the trap speed, it is no secret these cars are making well into the mid 300's to the wheels.
As far as that Neon is concerned, I would like to see the dyno sheet on that 345WHP! I am sure there are some out there, but not yours!

the cobra was modded too, it had intake, exhaust, and programmer, so this cobra was not stock to say the least.
the wrx had its stock cat-back on and stock intake, and was untuned. Now the wrx has an exhaust, intake and a tune, so the cobra would stand NO chance now
here is the video, im the camera man, and the video is kinda crappy, but you can still see which side the green light comes up on.

"Terminator" Cobra's are flippin fast...nobody beats them! As for the SRT-4 beating the '97 S/C Cobra...whatever. Just leave him alone...he knows what happened. Theres no use telling him what he can't beat...only he and the Cobra know what REALLY happened. good kill man!
There is a lot of BS floating in here. If it was a 96 Cobra, no, it didn't have a 351.
I had a 97 Mustang Cobra, mostly stock with exhaust and a CAI. I beat SRT-4s with that car on more than one occasion. The front end comes up at 135? LOL! I had my car up to somewhere above 160 (the speedo stops there), and it wasn't going anywhere. An SRT-4 is a quick little car, no doubt about that, but it DOES NOT HAVE the top end of a Cobra.
I'm not saying that an SRT-4 can't be made to beat a Cobra, I'm just saying that this story of yours is a little far fetched. A 4.6L 32V V8 SVT engine with a blower vs. a SRT-4, and you made him small in your rear view mirror. My *** buddy. That Cobra was running a hand built engine. There were only 12 teams of 2 men each that ever built those engines. They did not have a massive ammount of power stock (305 in N/A trim, which ain't that bad actually), but with a blower, they are easily capable of 400+ Hp, with stock internals, no problamo.
I only once had a 4cyl beat my car, and that was a WRX STI, and he only had me by a car and a half by 125mph.
I call BS on this thread.
P.S.
Why make up storys that didn't ever happen anyway? What's the damn point?
