SRT-4 vs GTO vs 350Z vs Mustang vs S2000
Thats why the SRT-4 is considered Americas best performance deal. Now Chevy is making the Cobalt (replacement for Cavalier) and the SS version will have 205 hp and estimated 0-60 in 6.4 i think. There is nothing on the market that can even touch the SRT-4 for bang for the buck.
I've had 4 of the 5 to the track, but I've only ran the R/T so far. I made 3 passes and kinda babied it due to a loose power steering/AC belt, I had thrown it once before.[sm=smiley9.gif] I should have been alot faster than I was though, babying it or not, I was running slower than a stock R/T. It was running in the frickin' 16's for f[sm=smiley35.gif]ks sake. I should have been running at least high 14's to low 15's. I later found out what the problem was, I was in a hurry to get it ready for the Neo Classics, where I ran it, and I made sure that I got my new pedal covers on it before the show. I had tons of problems getting them on and keeping them straight. I removed the rubber pads from the brake and clutch pedals to get those covers on, but the gas pedal was plastic and had some goofy metal strap thing to attach that cover to that pedal. A couple days later, after steaming over being sooo slow, I checked out the pedal covers on a hunch. Bigger than sh*t, I got under there and pushed down the gas pedal with my hand since I noticed that the cover on it was rather low and wouldn't you know it, the pedal cover was hitting the carpet of the center hump grabbing and stopping it from even coming close to WOT. I kicked myself over that one till this day. If only I had either left that one off or simply drilled the pedal and bolted the cover directly to it, I wouldn't have looked like such an a**.[sm=smiley35.gif][sm=smiley7.gif] I think I may have a picture showing how far down on the pedal the cover was at the time, if so I will post a pic of it.
how was that neo classic? i didnt make it, although i wanted to. i was afraid that i would have the slowest, and least modded car there, thus sticking out like crazy.
You would have been above average there. I saw quite a few 16 and slower cars, this was actually the majority. Me and 5 other friends went out there together and we all ran a few times. With as sad as my times were due to the pedal, only one of the 5 were faster than me. Their cars were: '03 Tiburon GT with a CAI (the only one that beat me), '99 Neon 4 door SOHC with short ram intake and header, 2nd gen. RX-7 with CAI and most of the emissions removed and a ported intake, '96 Eclipse 2.0L DOHC with CAI, header, no cat, Evo exhaust, MSD coil & wires and front and rear STB, '00 Integra with CAI and Evo muffler.
so there were no screaming blown or boosted like DSMs or hondas? keep in mind, the besttime my RT has turned in, before the CAI, was 16.28, but that was on a very cool night a few years back. then we got the mirada running again,
so i have the CAI,and i also have 15 inch rims with very low pro tires, but since i got those things, ive never had it to the track.

'71- I have seen that video before. As I said in my previous post, I believe it can beat it to atleast 60. As that WRX beat the SRT to atleast 70 in the vid., from a rolling start at 40. Regarding your "average" times, I have personally with 2 passengers, beat those times. I realize you said there are numbers both better and worse for the car. Another point about AWD, running street tires, you can have almost an infinate amount of USABLE power, where as putting 400+ hp in an SRT with street tires is rediculous. WRX's can handle that, with drivetrain modification of coarse. Thanks for your replies.
infinite? so if you put john forces hp to the wrx, it would hold it down huh? there was an SRT4 running low 12s this past friday at the track, the guy who built the engine works at a huge turbo shot near the track, and says that at like 22lbs/boost, it has around 400hp. and he uses it just fine.
