SRT-4 vs GTO vs 350Z vs Mustang vs S2000
Ya, john forces hp would be fine..
Wow!! 400hp, not bad. To tell you the truth, I would rather have an SRT-4 than a WRX(if I lived somewhere w/o snow), I don't really like the WRX too much.

'71- I have seen that video before. As I said in my previous post, I believe it can beat it to atleast 60. As that WRX beat the SRT to atleast 70 in the vid., from a rolling start at 40. Regarding your "average" times, I have personally with 2 passengers, beat those times. I realize you said there are numbers both better and worse for the car. Another point about AWD, running street tires, you can have almost an infinate amount of USABLE power, where as putting 400+ hp in an SRT with street tires is rediculous. WRX's can handle that, with drivetrain modification of coarse. Thanks for your replies.

I just went back through a few issues of Sport Compact Car magazine (extremely Japanese car biased) and here is a quote from one of their articles on the SRT-4,"With this kind of power on hand, the car would leave stripes on command. More impressive is it's ability to make WRX owners cower in fear. At anything above 10 MPH, the Neon gone wrong will show it's taillights to any stock WRX and even give EVO drivers something to think about in a straight line." Nuff said.[sm=smiley14.gif][sm=smiley2.gif]
BadStrat- I live in Eastern Washington. Where its not unusual to get a few feet in snow, plus going over the passes to Seattle and going snowboarding etc. it is certainly nice to have 4/AWD.
'71- Sorry, I wasn't aware of the power upgrade, nor the LSD. But breaking loose in 3rd in a front wheel drive car is nothing too special. A friend of mine has an '03 GTI 1.8T 6spd with a LSD and it can completely roast them through 3rd. The engine and everything else is stock. It only has 180 hp, I have driven a '96 eagle talon with only 150 hp and it can leave a mean rubber mark into second gear, stock, except for short shifter and mopar cam. I do apologize for saying a WRX could beat an SRT(tho I know an '03 could be beat.), you have convinced me, the WRX would lose to an '04. Both nice cars IMO.

Their time is still based on the '03 SRT-4, in most of the initial testing they were running mid-high 5 sec. 0-60 MPH times. The ones I had seen running at 2 different tracks were the same cars and drivers and they knew how to drive them, that's why and how they were getting solid 13.7-13.9 in the 1/4 mile in '03 SRT-4's. Most '03 owners will only achieve low 14's, unless they get tons of practice. Sport Compact Car magazine recorded their '03 that they tested ran a best of 0-60 MPH in 5.6 sec. and the 1/4 mile in 14.1 @ 102 MPH out of 3 runs. Here is their comparison between the '03 SRT-4 and the '04 WRX. The '03 SRT-4 still wins out in the 1/4 mile.
They also had an article to see which could lay down the longest stripe. The '03 SRT-4 didn't fair too well due to a combination of factors. First off is the cars rake, low in the front and high in the rear. Next is the fact that the PCM only allows 8 psi boost, out of 14-15 psi, in 1st gear. Lastly was the super sticky tires that come on it. They were even "bummed" about the results figuring it to win it, but 83 ft. didn't get the job done. The winner was the Mini Cooper Works of all things with 129 ft., go figure. Then again you want to grab and go, not sit and spin.
