Question Is this ram 1500 a good buy?

This is a second gen ram 1500 (2000). the guy (private seller) told me what he has replaced on it which is
water pump
front cover gasket
timing chain
thermostat
belt
"a couple of pulleys replaced with belt as well"
front right wheel hub
whole assembly
distributor cap and rotor
he claims it is dry underneath (no leaks and whatnot)
bad he listed as rust, and speakers dont work well oh and he is going to replace the battery this weekend (doesnt hold a charge anymore)
and he says the check engine light came on for the 5th cylinder which he claims "probably just needs a tune up." total mileage is 211k
if i buy it it will be my first vehicle and he's willing to sell it for 2.2k could prolly ask for a little less. (i dont know a whole lot about early dodges)

I could buy a couple of them for that price with less mileage. Look on craigs list they are on there all the time.

yeah sounds a bit too much for what you are describing. battery not holding a charge could be a current/electrical draw/drain. i would have to take a good at it before negotiating... that is if i don't find anything wrong, cause then i would pass

are there any problems that are very common on these trucks (second gen)?
if it matters it's an extended cab.
battery is 5 years old he said.

Plenum gasket. (see the thread "be all, end all, plenum thread" at the top of this forum.)

Trans. If it shifts good when you drive it, should be ok.

Aside from that, look at it like any other used vehicle.

It would be faster to list the parts on these trucks that don't have common problems. The transmissions are lousy, the factory LSD (if it has one) in the rear end is usually broken, the steering bushings in the column wear out and cause sloppy steering, the track bar is a common issue and causes death wobble, the heads a prone to cracking on these engines, the dash is almost always cracked on these trucks, the doors don't have proper drains so they get clogged and rust out at the bottom, and I could go on and on with the common issues on these trucks. I know I'll get bashed for this since it's a Dodge forum. Anyway, I've had my truck a long time and I do like it. It's also not worth it for me to purchase a new truck for something I drive 1,500 miles a year, but these trucks really are pretty lousy. If I didn't already have one, I wouldn't buy another one. In addition to all of the problems associated with them, you get lousy power, and even worse gas mileage.

I looked at it today and rode in it (my sisters boyfriend who knows alot about vehicles drove it because i figured he would know if theres a problem he'd feel it i also didnt want to crash it haha gotta get comfortable driving again) it was pretty solid. no problems at all it accelerated fine power steering was a little lousy for backing up, engine pretty clean, only thing is rust at bottom of doors and some rust on body but it is MN and it does get humid and wet during summer.
i did decide to purchase it because it was solid running heat works haven't paid him yet will do that tomorrow he is taking $2000 because of the minor issues and he also says because it would be my first vehicle. title is clean there were no leaks just like what the guy told me it was dry underneath completely.
thank-you for the heads up hometheaterman
