Default P0300, p0301, p0302, p0303, p0304

Hello. New here, and need some help. I will be searching through these forums to look for answers, but I figured I'd go ahead and start a thread, too. I'm not a mechanic, but I am trying to learn to fix my vehicles instead of paying someone to do it for me.

2005 Dodge Dakota SLT - 4.7L V8 - 215,000 miles

I got this truck from my dad about a year ago. I know that before he gave it to me he replaced the coils, spark plugs and 02 sensors. I also just replaced the PCV valve.

For a couple months, occasionally while accelerating, the CEL would flash and the engine would hesitate. It would eventually go away. It was also starting to rough idle. The code I got was P0300 (Random misfire). The last few weeks, these misfires have happened more frequently.

Today on my way to work, It was just about every time I stepped on the accelerator. The codes I got were P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304.

So, do I start with vacuum leaks? Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Could bad fuel injectors or fuel pump be the cause?

I'd recommend a fuel pressure check followed by a compression check.

How sure are you of that little tidbit??? If you aren't 100% certain, i.e. you WATCHED it happen, I would be tempted to pull a couple of the problem plugs, and see what they look like.

Didn't see him do it, but doubt he lied to me. But I'm going to check them anyway. Not sure what plugs he used.
