Default 97’ P0740 TCC Solenoid Replacement

I got the trouble code today and found one place that could order the part for my 3.9l V6 van. $150!!!

anyways, I wanted to know how hard this repair actually is. As it goes with this 2nd gen van, it is very hard to find the tutorials. I’m sure it’s the same as the 2500 trucks (can’t believe mine is labeled as a 2500)

Ive replace the water pump, alternator, pulley, and serpentine belt on this and am just learning along the way because I’m broke but in order for me to take this cross country, I don’t want any tranny problems along the way.

I don’t know much odd things happening since the code happened. When I put it in reverse up to my garage to start tearing out the interior it definitely made some sort of noise before I shut it off.

Any and all advice on this repair is warmly welcomed! Thanks!!

Ram Vans all the way!!

I can’t seem to find any trucks with the 3.9l or are the trans the same across all of them?

I dropped the pan and the filter and now I can't get the next portion off because it's attached to some pulleys that won't release even though both the bolts attached are off of it. Any advice on how to get that part out so I can get to the solenoid?

The red is the entire section I need disconnected. The highlighted yellow I cannot figure out how to remove so I can slide the lower section up. I shoved my camera above the linkage where I can’t see above. So this is pointing straight down at the ground.

Should be a sliding clip on the end of that cable, that grabs ahold of a ball stud on the lever. Little screwdriver should be able to push it out of the way, or simply remove it.

it’s the metal piece attached to that cable that’s stopping me from removing it though.

Which metal piece?? At the bottom of the pic? Yeah, there should be the little slider feller on there to release it.
