1998 Dodge Ram 1500 No reverse..
So today I went to go move my truck and I had no reverse.. Just acts like it is neutral pretty much.. I've been reading about what may be wrong with it, someone said that it could be a bad reverse band? But, If thats bad you typically dont have OD and you will have no engine brakeing in 1st and 2nd gear? I could be wrong or may have mis-read.. but my OD still works and I have engine brakeing in 2nd gear but not first.. Could my band possibly just need adjusted or am I going to have to get the tranny rebuilt?.. Also, all my other gears work perfectly..
Thanks a lot.

Yes it would sure explain a lot lol, but anyway I have no idea.. I dont know if it was a snap ring or not.. I just guessed haha, but either way I'm gonna talk to a friend who rebuilds transmissions and see what he has to say.. But if I would have to put money on it I would say its because that reverse piston is cracked.. We will see I suppose. :|

Hey new member here i have a 98 ram 1500 5.9 and my reverse just out of the blue is gone like there is nothing to it. When i try and Engage it though it sounds like it wants to but as it gets the that last i guess click? maybe it sounds more like a squish or maybe a small rush of air I want to say like a vacuum hose but i have no idea all my others engage and my 4x4 does and there is no engine brake or anything like that, help?

Next thing may be to drop the transmission pan and check for crap floating around in the pan.
