Default Thermostat housing bolt size - HELP!

So the last time I did my intake, I broke off one of the thermostat housing bolts while removing it and had to have it drilled out. Was doing my thermostat again and when I went to install the housing, the threads stripped.

Does anyone know the thread size of the bolts? Google isn't being my friend today. Could only find info on the old style V8 and the 4.7s. I have a 5.2 Magnum.

Help would very much be appreciated so I can find the next size up and tap it out. My truck isn't doing me much good with coolant pissed out of the thermostat housing

Exclamation

can’t help ya but the thermostat housing is only snugged down very little force is needed actually I just barely snug them in and rely on the sealer more than the bolts why you ask because if too tight you warp them and you can strip the soft aluminum out.

I know, I barely had it snug and it just spun right around. I tried using loctite and getting it as snug as possible before it spun around and it leaks. I could always just jimmy-rig it using RTV and hope it works but was more or less hoping I could just tap it using the next biggest size.

Going by memory, I'd say they're either M8 or 5/16". For either, the next size up would be 3/8". What size wrench/socket do they take? 1/2"? 13mm?

Then it's an M8 bolt. 3/8" or M10 is a pretty big jump (M9 is kind of an oddball size). Better to heli-coil it, IMO.

taping to a larger bolt is fine just dont start to small or you could have the same problem match hole size to tap

I found this it may help decide what size you need.

This depends on what is available to you in stores also
