Try an solve this temp problem
Dodge ram 1996 5.2 318 1500
Okay I have a coolent temp guage problem it reads 220 steady after new napa sensor and failsafe 180* tstat I tried burpin her for an hour no luck. It goes to 220 like that's where it's supposed to be or something which I know it's not
Any of these cause This probem
Failsafe stat garbage already?
180 efan?
Underdrive pulleys for alt crank and water pump?
Or a bad new gauge sensor(one wire)

Hey you: I did use Teflon tape
Zman17: I ordered a 180 superstant because of my SCT tunner
Safrantz: I burped it by jacking up the passant side and having a friend hold the truck at about 2000 rpms every now and then with the cap off and me squeezing the hose's fr about an hour
Ham bone: I didn't drain ye block this time
Also it goes to 220 relatively quick before my efan even comes on which was set at 180 from before

Lose the teflon tape on the sensor. They are pipe threads, so, just tighten it down, and it won't leak.
Temp sensor for your fan is in the upper hose? Yeah, the gauge is gonna get up to temp before the sensor sees it then. Once the stat opens, the fans should kick on. (if the coolant is hot enough...... some may cool enough initially before it gets to the sensor.)

I put the sensor in between radiator fins that what was instructed by flex a lite
Recently the fan comes on first before it hits 220 but it hits 220 like its almost supposed factory , which i know its not...I will clean off the threads and stick it back in with updates
I will put on the new stant cap as well see if she changes if not I guess I will put in the tsta also With a flush . Still accepting ideas
