Get the codes by doing the ignition key dance an post here , ignition on,off,on,offf,on then look at the odometer for the codes , it should read them out .
Did anyone get this fixed? Ive done searches but I cant find any where what it took to correct the problem. Even if you had to go to the dealer let me know. and if you know what they did or not.
I have already repair 4 caravans for EGR code P0406. All 4 got new EGR valves, And they are back order. The of the van were 2005 and 2006.

I thought it looked like an easy repair. I had the wife stop by the dealer to estimate repair, they, for some reason, thought there was something to do with EGR in the fuel tank and it needed to come out. I didnt have time for that myself, so we let them fix it. Turns out the EGR floe sensor is in fact where I thought it was, next to the alt. The "auto-tech" moved the alt, i guess, and thought it was a PITA. There is a bolt that looks hard to get to, but I work on compact construction equipment.... If that guy thought the EGR sensor was hard to get to he'd never make it in the "dirt" world.
I just finished this job and it was somewhat of a pain in the ass. I understand why the above mentioned tech took the alt off, I almost had to too. I had to use a 1/4 inch 10mm socket to fit on the lower bolt of egr and it was a very tight squeeze. I had to piece extensions, swivels and 1/4 to 3/8 reducer together like a puzzle. the 3/8 socket had no chance of fitting on the lower bolt. everything else was pretty easy, but that bottom bolt is in a bad spot(because of alternator).
