What are you looking to do, how much are you looking to spend?

If you want the thing to last, and you can get away with it, EGR delete, DPF delete, Airdog or FASS 150, and an H&S programmer.

I just want more speed and money isn't an issue. Now the dpf delete is illegal correct?

Pretty easy to get away with though I'm assuming since I read and hear about it all the time. With that will it kick out black smoke all the time? Or just when I get on it

Depends on the program you run. On fairly conservative tunes they don't blow much smoke at all. On the hot programs they will leave black contrails.

It's easy enough to get away with, so long as your vehicle doesn't get inspected.

if you live in a place where you have to go through emissions or inspections, then probably shouldn't do it..if you don't have to do emissions or inspections and you don't care about warranty. then DPF and EGR deletes should be first on the list.

then get a good lift pump and gauges (egt, boost, trans temp, rail pressure)

then throw a programmer on there like the smarty.

You'll need the programmer at the time you delete the EGR and DPF. I'm partial to H&S's offerings, along with their overdrive software.

I bought one of the first 07.5, 6.7's in Texas, what a friggen nightmare... At first
I live where we have no smog check, and have lots of friends in automotive, so inpections are no problem.
I did the egr delete, straight piped it (no
Cat, Dpf, nothing), added a cold airbox, and completely removed the egr cooler. I went with the Smarty 67 programmer, and the truck has ran like a raped ape for years.
Just don't go above a soft 2 catcher software , with the
middle east tune. No smoke, can hear my turbo, and I get an honest 19-21 mpg ( not towing) doing 70-80 mph across wear Texas all day long.
Remember if you change the turbo to a conventional one, you will lose your air brake, but you can always add one for around 400.00

Why would you want to swap in a conventional turbo? If anything, swap in a 2nd gen manifold and an he451vgt out of an ISX.
