Dodge Demon is the quickest in the world with a supercharger.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon is the quickest production road car in the world, running in the 9-second range in stock form. That is an incredible stock number, but owners of this evil muscle car have found that a handful of key upgrades will push it in the low-9-second range. This video comes from my own YouTube channel and it shows that with some serious engine upgrades, the track-ready beast will dip well into the 8-second range.
Marc Heiding’s 2018 Demon
The white 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon in the video above is owned, built and driven by Marc Heidings.
He has added a stroker kit from Better Built that lifts engine displacement from 6.2 liters to 7.0 liters. That 426-cubic inch engine is fitted with ThiTek-modified cylinder heads, a custom Comp Cams camshaft, FI Interchillers supercharger spacers, a High Horse Performance 105-millimeter throttle body,a Fore triple-pump fuel system, ARH headers and some ported blower components from Jokers Performance, including the snout and the bearing plate.
The Demon’s 2.7-liter supercharger is still in use, but it is fitted with a 2.85 upper pulley while an ATI 10% lower pulley helps increase boost. There is also a Nitrous Outlet plate system with 100-horsepower jets, and Curt Dusterhoffhandled all of the engine and transmission tuning.
Aside from the engine upgrades, this 2018 Demonhas a Driveshaft Shop 9-inch rear differential with 3.25 gear, a carbon fiber driveshaft, high strength axles, Holeshot 15-inch wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson Pro Radials measuring 316/60/15, 17-inch Billet Specialties front wheels, AAD upper front arms, Spohn lower control arms, a Darrel Cox Racing lightweight battery and a custom built roll cage that is certified to 8.50.
World’s Quickest Demons
The quickest 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon in the world is the twin turbocharged muscle car driven by NHRA star Leah Pritchett. Prichett ran an 8.60 at 159 miles per hour to set the record for the quickest modern Demon in the world.
In the video above, Marc Heidings got awfully close to that record, running an 8.634 at 159.01 miles per hour. This elapsed time makes Heidings’ car the second quickest modern Demon in the world, trailing only the twin turbo car driven by Pritchett. Of course, this 8.634 makes this white Demon the quickest in the world with a supercharger.
"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.
"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.
"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.
"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.
