Demon Station Wagon Is the Mopar Beast this World Needs
Widebody Demon shooting brake features fender-mounted mirrors, insanely wide wheels and tires, and a front-mount intercooler.
Honestly, if you brought us the idea of a station wagon version of the iconic Dodge Demon, we probably would look at you funny. However, seeing the concept executed via 3D render has flipped us a full one-eighty.
We have yet another one of these wild 3D renders of some pretty awesome cars, thanks to Instagram. This time it is a Dodge Demon that has been converted to a shooting brake configuration. That is, typically, a two-door station wagon of sorts. While, again, the concept sounds a bit crazy, the execution is on point. This thing looks pretty sweet! The artist of the images, Arturo Thomas, posts these renders on his Instagram account frequently. In the caption for this beast, he speculates that it could be one of the lighter wagons out there.
“This might be the lightest wagon. Why? There’s only one seat, a steering wheel, and no dashboard Oh, and if you wonder what’s in the trunk, just a radiator and a bunch of tubes,” writes Thomas
He may be onto something there. The Demon is certainly not known for being lightweight, but in comparison to some modern station wagons, this thing could, in theory, be substantially lighter.
There are a couple of quirky features to this thing, though. For example, the carbon fiber front fenders may match in width to the rear, but the rears are the same color as the rest of the body. That’s an interesting call, indeed, but not quite as bold as the JDM-style fender-mounted mirrors.
Perhaps the strangest thing we took notice of, though, is the front mount intercooler. As you may be aware, the Demon uses its air-conditioning system as an aid to the intercooler mounted between the supercharger and intake ports on the head. Ideally, you’d think that’s the last thing you’d want to modify. However, being that this is all fantasy anyway, we suppose practicality is sort of a moot point. Setting up a front mount intercooler with a roots-style supercharger would be a logistical nightmare in the first place, so perhaps the idea here is a conversion to a turbocharger setup. It wouldn’t be the first time someone has opted for turbos on a Demon.
Overall, we think this thing is pretty awesome. We would love to see someone turn a Challenger into a shooting-brake of sorts in real life. Perhaps not a Demon, though.
