Dodge Charger Lyft Driver Takes Passenger on Insane 120 MPH Joyride

We get the desire to show off your high-powered Charger but doing it on a public highway while working is just a bad idea.

If you’re a regular user of Uber and/or Lyft, you probably don’t have too many wild stories to tell from those experiences. The craziest thing most people experience on these rides is just plain bad driving or the overwhelming smell of too many air fresheners. But according to a recent story from WSOC, a Union County, North Carolina resident got a little more than he bargained for after hailing a Lyft from a Dodge Charger driver recently.

According to the passenger, he and the driver were chatting about the SRT Charger’s 182 mph top speed. The driver then decided to show it off, nailing the gas and reaching speeds of around 120 mph before getting clocked by a state trooper. And from there, things just got even crazier as the driver decided to run from the pursuing officer. The passenger in the Charger captured some of the incident on his phone, which can be seen in this video.

“I was like, ‘What the hell, dude?,’ the passenger recalled to WSOC. “And then he said, ‘There’s a blue light. I’m going to jail. I’ve got to go.'” Go he did, swerving through traffic and eventually losing the officer. Troopers chose to end the chase rather than create an even bigger risk to the public. The Charger driver eventually pulled behind a house and turned his lights off. He then told the passenger “you’re going to Charlotte with me.”

The fleeing Lyft driver made it to the nearby town of Indian Trail before finally letting his passenger get out. At which point the passenger obviously called the police. The driver was eventually tracked down and is now facing charges for reckless driving and speeding. As you might imagine, Lyft immediately deactivated his account.

It’s hard to knock the Charger driver for wanting to show off his ride. But at the same time, his dangerous driving could have easily hurt or killed someone. So just remember folks – keep your showboating on the track and off public roads.
