Raptor-Killing, Hellcat-Equipped Ram Rebel TRX is Coming
Not one, but two different Ram Rebel models are reportedly on the way. And one of them packs 707 hp of Hellcat heat!
The Ram Rebel is already a pretty awesome truck. Sporting off-road rubber, Bilstein monotube dampers, and rugged good looks, the Rebel is a nice upgrade over the stock 1500. But with “only” 395 hp and 410 lb-ft of torque available from its 5.7-liter Hemi V8, the Ram Rebel isn’t quite capable of hanging with Ford’s much-ballyhooed Raptor. At least for now, because it appears that Dodge is cooking up something much more sinister.
According to 5thGenRams, Dodge is planning on building not one, but two hotter versions of the Rebel. The first, the Rebel TR, will come with a new, bored-out 7.0-liter Hemi V8 named Banshee. The bigger, naturally-aspirated mill reportedly produces a healthy 520 hp and 525 lb-ft of torque. Which, coincidentally, beats out the Raptor’s twin-turbo V6, which puts out 450 hp and 510 lb-ft. And that isn’t even the best part.
Since FCA is happy to put its amazing supercharged, 6.2-liter Hellcat in anything and everything these days, why not the Ram Rebel? And that’s exactly what’s rumored to power the production version of the Rebel TRX. Just like the Jeep Cherokee Trackhawk and the Challenger and Charger before it, output for the TRX stands at 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque. Well, OK, the Trackhawk has 5 less lb-ft, but who’s counting?
