Default removing wiper arms

I have the manual and it says remove the black caps, remove the retaining nuts, then the wiper arm should come off. i tried to pry up on the arm but couldn't get it to budge. I didn't want to crack the cowl cover. Any one have any tricks or tips. I'm trying to change out my hood hinges. thanks

PENETRATRING OIL .... Lots of it ... The Arms are aluminum and the shafts are Steel the two metals corrode badly ....
Spray leave sit pry back and forth ... If all else fails I've used a gear puller to get them off

Put a little anti-sieze on them when you reinstall and it will help the next time you take them off.

Anti-seize on the two surfaces not on the bolt threads. The two surfaces are what corrode.

Funny thing is, I've done everything to get the wiper arms off and I've still not been able to get them apart. I'm almost to the point of just getting another set, used or new, and just breaking the old ones off, lol.
I'm going to try again soon and if that still doesn't work......

Hey BV what puller do you recommend to use? I've used 2 armed gear pullers but none of the ones I've used had thin enough arms to fit down the sides and they just kept popping off.

Bah, I've got a few more tricks to use before giving in, lol.

Try vinigar on it the light acid might be enough to dissolve some of the corrosion.

Never thought of that one, good call. I guess, soda can be used too, since it has acids in them also.

thanks i should known this from being a machinist. lol. I over steered a corner and smacked the side of a cliff. i put a 95 bumper on a 98(i like the 95 better actually), it doesn't line up perfect with the lights though. i got a new hood latch so now my hood closes. But my hood is cocked towards the drivers front. I got some hinges off a 95 so im hopin that will line it back up. Any other ideas?

The headlights should be swapped to the 95-96 style also, that's why the bumper doesn't line up with the headlights.
As for the hood, try moving the hood stops on each corner. The driver's side could be higher and it may be pushing that corner up higher, or the passenger side could just be too low, lol.
