What you hate about your Dakota.
I don't exactly hate V8, I always been told that trucks with V8 engine takes more gas than V6. I guess, I shouldn't hate my extended cab as well. I have more space for grocery or whatever. Then, there is 2 storage space underneath the back seat. One is for my jack and the other one is empty for now. Oh yeah, I don't blame anyone if they don't understand me. Its because I'm not a mechanic and I don't know everything about trucks. I just know the basic things like doing a oil change, taking the tires off...etc. So, could anyone tell me the difference between V6 and V8?

I could get alll technical about your engine, but suffice to say that driven carefully, your V8 won't get much worse gas mileage than a V6, but it will produce a lot more power. For reference, my V6 averages about 17mpg. It's pretty bad already, and I'd gladly sacrifice one or two mpg's for V8 power.
Let me tell you, thank your lucky stars that you have an extended cab. With a standard cab there is just no room anywhere to put packages or groceries as you mentioned. It's actually really frustrating cause there have been times I've had to choose between carrying a passenger or carrying a few packages.

I'll tell you right now I hate everything about my Dakota.
If I sat and added everything it would need to be a decent vehicle I would have to replace pretty much the whole truck.
It's simply not worth the money nor the grief. I can't drive since my battery is dead again. They money it would cost me to get this truck how i want would cost me another 1,000 at least.
I'm fixing my exhaust and my cv axle and i might do the body work and paint then I'm calling it a day. I'm gonna try and get 1,500 for it and I'm done! The sooner I'm looking at other vehicles to buy the better.
It's not that I don't like Dakotas, but it does seem like a pretty bad truck when everything on it needs replacing. Pretty anything pre 92 is a heap as far as Dakotas go.. Crap engines crap auto trans and crap suspension and that's really the bottom line for me.

LO 619, you are expecting a bit much for a vehicle that is 22 years old.
Anything that ancient, you buy as a project, and rebuild it as you can. It is a labor of love, or possibly therapy that is cheaper than lying on a shrink's couch.

I agree with you for the most part, and I always looked at it as a project, and always remained optimistic, but what I need is something I can actually drive right now, and it's not just a matter of replacing this or that, that wouldn't be a problem. even if it was JUST the tranny I would still be down but it's just too much and I may have to sell. But i'll be back in the dakota world I may try and get a 2nd gen or a something between 95-96. If not I'll be lookin at GMC, Chevy and Ford. Perhaps even a car.
