Default Help! Weird electrical problems

I noticed that my left hand blinker doesn't work anymore. Both the front and rear bulbs turn on but they do not flash. Every once and a while they will flash, but it doen't happen very often. The LHindicator light on the dash turns on, but it doesn't flash either.

Also, when I have my parking lights or headlightson my LHtaillight doesn't work. The running light comes on with the headlights but when I step on the brakes everthing goes black. When I don't have my parking or headlights on the tail light works fine. Cananyone explain why thisis happening and how I can fix it?

first thing is to check the two flashers, make sure they both work, on my 88 the blinkers and the brakes are routed trough the combination switch wich is no more than the blinker switch... just tell me the year of your truck and ill get you the flasher/brake/hazard diagram.

Thanks for the help guys. I can't figure out the wiring diagrams though. I don't know what wires I should be checking. PS, when I hit the hazard button on the column, both blinkers flash like normal so I don't think it's the flasher modual.

I had the exact same prob. with a 2000 chevy van a couple weeks ago and it was the directional multi switch on the colunm. On this vehicle (dakota)the switch is about 80 bucks.

Btw, do you have a trailer plug in the back ? If you do make sure none of the wires are rubbing on the frame.

And there is a chance the headlight switch is bad! About 25 bucks, But you got to check all the wires (power and ground) and connectors before wasting money on parts.
