what about your fuel pump relay?
you could just swap it with your starter or ac relay for testing. no cash spent that way. i'd also wonder if your you have sensor ground and 5 volt ref when it happens.

Meh, I keep a new relay in the truck. No need to swap them around.

How would I check for the thing which you mentioned?

Edited to add: At one point I had swapped the fuel pump and ASD relay. The stupid thing is if it's the relay, the same problem would appear.

So this time, I swapped the AC clutch relay and the fuel pump relay. We'll see what happens there.

Well, Friday the truck wouldn't start at my uncle's house. Wasn't getting fuel.

Later it stalled on the freeway, but pumping the gas pedal restarted it.

Today it stalled at a stop sign, and restarted immediately upon putting in neutral and turning the key.

This is bugging the heck out of me.

Next time it's doing the no start no fuel pressue thing check the voltage at the fuel pump connector while someone else turns the key over to the run position. When you turn the key to the run position the pump primes for about a second. Better yet, listen for the pump to prime and if it doesn't check your voltage.

Default Similar Problem

Hey I have a 97 dakota V* that has similar issues. Recently, it will stall out when idiling at a red light. After sitting in the drive way for about a week, I had trouble just getting it start up. It eventually started, but only ran while I had my foot on the gas in Park. Once I let off the gas, it just stalled out. Does this sound like the IAC or fuel pump? Or even just a new fuel filter?

Yesterday while I was driving, the engine shut up, but restarted immediately upon letting up on the gas.

I am starting to wonder if the TPS may be causing this issue.

Yes it sounds like a bad IAC. Just replace it.

This truck is still doing it's little shut down trick.

As an aside, it appears to be getting very poor gas mileage.

Something like 150 miles per tank of gas.

Might as well be driving a dang duece and a half, get the same gas mileage.

I have 31x10.50x15 tires on it, but checking the speedo against a gps, it isn't off.

Any thoughts?

As an aside, if I knock on the cat, it rattles like crazy.

i had this same problem with my 89 v6. the garages could not figure it out. does the 92 have an EGR valve? the diaphragm in mine leaked so every time i coasted into a stop sign it ran like crap. i had to drop it into neutral and pump the gas to keep it going. on the highway it was fine. a leak in the vacuum line to it will also case this.
if it does not happen every time the valve is probably carboned up and sticking.
pull the EGR off and clean the carbon out, if that does not work check for vacuum, if thats ok replace the valve.
