Dakota Stalling.
When it is about to stall can you revive it when hitting the gas and it stops at a certain limit like 1800 to 2200 rpm? You here any backfires or is it just stalling every stop? I would cut the cat for the h/ll of it, but I highly doubt it is the problem, because he here the rattling it be broken up inside and wouldn't be plugged though it might also be hiding backfires. Mine was broken up to before we cut it, and then I really noticed the backfire blew a 2" gap on the side of my muffler. Though a shot in the dark and a real easy test is see if the dist rotor wobbles or moves a lot, just a suggestion or if you see oil, or a lot of carbon residue on the cap and rotor, could be cutting out cause of it. Though highly unlikely but still a possibility. Good luck.
Well it did it again. Stalled and wouldn't start.
Cuts right out without warning, no backfiring.
This time it wouldn't start for quite a while.
I took some fuel out of the fuel rail via the schrader valve, and poured a little into each valve.
The truck immediately started, but died shortly after, then I was able to restart it.
Obviously the truck wasn't getting fuel. Gonna focus on the fuel system here.

Truck now wont start.
Appears to have no fuel pressure, and no spark.
Replaced the coil, no dice.
Not sure where to go from here. Probably re check the infamous splice.

It's the infamous splice.
It's a wire splice underneath the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment.
You have to go back toward the firewall a bit, and it's a couple red and white wires spliced together.
Mine looked perfectly fine, but it was not making a connection.

My Dakota has been down for two months with this issue.. sometimes I can get 1 mile.. sometimes 100 feet... I checked the splice and it had been redone before.. but do you really think redoing the splice again might fix this?
