Default Dakota Stalling.

1992 Dakota, 3.9L engine.

It will stall intermittently, sometimes while cruising, sometimes while slowing down. It did it twice to me today. Both times while slowing down for a stop light. The second time I pumped the gas while rolling and the engine started back up.

The fuel pump is new. The hall effect has been changed.

I checked the infamous splice and there is nothing wrong with it. (I will be redoing it before buttoning it up for good measure)

My oil pressure guage likes to sit at a rather low reading once in a while. I wonder if the ASD relay might be shutting off the engine when oil pressure gets low?

I need help guys.

I just pulled the connector to what I assume is the IAC (back of throttle body)

Started the truck, it ran just like it always does.

Plugged it in while the truck was running, nothing changed.

Unplugged it again. Nothing changed.

It would be right to assume that my IAC is bad would it not?

Would the IAC cause the issues I'm having? Or is it going to be something that is just exacerbating the issue?

Either why I'll change it today.

Yes it can cause the problems you got. That is why I suggested for you to just replace it.

Well I changed the IAC. Don't know if that fixed it yet.

Of course the truck still acts just the same whether I plug in the IAC or not.

If the problem comes back, I have no idea where to go from there.

I got similar symptoms when my MAP sensor was bad, a quick change and we were back on the road.

does it run rough when this happens?
We have a 92 with V6, similar symptoms.
Check our post, we have been fighting this one for 3 wks now.
If you find something please be sure to add to the knowledge base.

Nope, doesn't run rough.

I pulled the connector to the sensor on the front of the throttle body. Has a vacuum line attached to it. I assume it's the MAP sensor.

Anyway, I pulled the connector to that one and it ran like crap and died when I did that.

So that hing is good.

The truck died today when I put it in reverse to start going. Died.

Opened the hood, there was no fuel pressure. Fuel pump is new.

Got me stumped.
