Isn't 1995 still hydraulic, instead of electronic?

yup a 95 would be identical to your 94. 96 was the 1st year of the electronic governor control.

Not Identical, they changes the size of a bunch of internal ports in the 95 auto trans. So its probably the same other wise but if you want to do work on it be sure you get 95 specific parts or order according to the number on it.

I went to the junk yard and took the trans out out a 1995 dakota to put into my 1994 and have found it to have an 8 or 9 pin connector on it rather than the 3 pin that mine had. I called the transmission shop and he told me it was electronically controlled where mine was not and would not work. I just need to know if I can make it work by installing the wiring and control module out of the 1995.

The trans out of the 1995 has different internal components when taking off the pan but is a good functioning tranny. Other than the wiring connectors it look as if it will bolt right up. I just don't want to put it in to find I have to pull it and go get another trans

The doner truck is tagged 8 of 95. could some one have already done to the doner truck what I am attempting to do to the 94?

As in "Manufactured 8/95"? If so, then it's a 1996 Model year.

The VIN will say for sure.

So, I'll bet it's the 4xRE from a 1996, not the 4xRH from a 1995.

To answer your question - Yes, but it's more than just a transmission wiring harness and an ECU; the 1996's got the JTEC instead of the SBEC for 1995.

thanks ralphp, I'm not sure what jtec and sbec are but was wondering what all will need to be removed from the doner truck to complete this swap if it can at all be done
