Default List of maintenance

Hey guys!!

bought a 93 Dakota 3.9 for $200 awhile back so I’ve been slowly fixing it up some. Here’s a list of what I’ve done, can anyone think of other things I should change out? It has 138k and runs like a champ!

Cant get the picture to attach lol one sec

Joe

I’ll look into that thanks! Yeah thought about changing differential oil myself but that’s a lot of stuff I could mess up inside there lol. Thank you!

Diff is easy. Remove the cover, drain, reinstall the cover and fill it back up.

Maybe I’ll give it a try this weekend. I wanna do the transmission fluid myself but have the 5 speed and doesn’t look easy to change it with the drain and fill plugs being tucked away lol. Called a shop and they want $60 to do it so that ain’t bad.

Yeah 60 isn't bad. The hardest part of doing it yourself is resealing the diff cover and that's not bad. Just kinda clumsy to do it when you have to put it gently into place while lying on the ground.

5w30 motor oil is now specd for the ax15 manual. But if you have to deal with cold weather (below freezing) I recommend Redline MT90 75w90. In my experience it makes a big difference in shifting before everything warms up.

Also you could get the transfer case fluid changed if it has 4wd. It uses automatic transmission fluid.

I managed the transfer case oil myself. Pretty easy

Clean the throttle body
change the plenum gasket with 1/4" shorter hotels
Change o2 sensor
Change valve cover gaskets
Rear brakes
Heater resistor
When you do the plenum do the water pump, bypass hose, and install a double roller timing chain.

Very good idea on valve cover gaskets! Looked at it last night and wouldn’t ya know it I could see the valve cover gasket a little bit. It’s torn a bit. I believe this weekend I’m going to change the o2 sensor and egr valve see if that helps with mileage. Right now I’m getting about 250 miles to a tank. 15 gal tank. Keep in mind lately the high has been -15 here in Wisconsin. Lol I absolutely love this truck and for $200 I couldn’t be happier. The topper on it alone is probably worth 200.
